It's not just Arizona... the PC crazies have made attempts in Washington, Florida, Maryland... etc... I'm sure this is occurring in every state in the dis-union...

I assume it's any symbol relating to Christ. *God* is okay to display (in the form of the star of David) but mention the name of Christ and you're a gonner. This would include Santa and his 8 tiny reindeer.

In our home we have a Christmas tree, Nativity, Menorah and the cutest fluffy Santa sitting on our hallway table. ;o) What you will *not* find in our home are any Kwaanza or Ramadan symbols.

I personally find any display of John McCain (be it one, two or three dimensional) very offensive. I trust that all representations of this individual will be removed from all public offices/buildings when I visit friends in Arizona next summer.

I'm bringing my own drinking water, by the way, there has to be something that makes Arizonians vote for egomaniacal senators and an attorney general who has far too much time on his hands.

This is an Editorial written by an American citizen, published in a local Newspaper. He did quite a job; didn't he?

IMMIGRANTS, NOT AMERICANS, MUST ADAPT

I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Sept.11,we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Americans. However, the dust from the attacks had barely settled when the "politically correct" crowd began complaining about the possibility that our patriotism was offending others.

I am not against immigration, nor do I hold a grudge against anyone who is seeking a better life by coming to America. Our population is almost entirely comprised of descendants of immigrants. However, there are a few things that those who have recently come to our country, and apparently some born here, need to understand.

This idea of America being a multicultural community has served only to dilute our sovereignty and our national identity. As Americans, we have our own culture, our own society, our own language and our own lifestyle.

This culture has been developed over centuries of struggles, trials, and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom. We speak ENGLISH,not Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian,or any other language.

Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society, learn the language!

"In God We Trust" is our national motto. This is not some Christian, right wing, political slogan. We adopted this motto because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture.

If Stars and Stripes offend you, or you don't like Uncle Sam, then you should seriously consider a move to another part of this planet. We are happy with our culture and have no desire to change, and we really don't care how you did things where you came from. This is OUR COUNTRY, our land, and our lifestyle.

Our First Amendment gives every citizen the right to express his opinion and we will allow you every opportunity to do so. But, once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about our flag, our pledge, our national motto, or our way of life, I highly encourage you to take advantage of one other great American freedom, THE RIGHT TO LEAVE.

ROFL. I share your aversion to all things McCain.

I called and left a Christmas message for the AG. Hope she likes it. :)

I hope there isn't anyone else present when the Christmas greeting you left on the AG's answering machine is played. I see a serious potential for auditory offense. I think a reasonable response would be to either ban answering machines from the entire office or insist that all messages be screened in a hermetically sealed room before subjecting innocent citizens to an overheard religious greeting.

The public must be protected!

I just hope the AG focuses on the vomit inducing yellow smiling face next.

“Unacceptable decorations would include nativity scenes, crosses, Stars of David, Christmas trees, Santa Clauses, Santa Claus related items, and other similar items that may be offensive to some of our employees or the public.”

I find the absence of these decorations and symbols during the CHRISTmas season HIGHLY offensive! Where's my shys.., er, I mean, lawyer?

That's nothing. According to another thread, St. Paul Minnesota banned the red Pointsettia. Originally they banned all Pointsettias, but they compromised and let them use white ones, they are less 'Christian'. I don't know what, if any, rational thought lies behind this distinction, and I also don't know what this means about pink Pointsettias.

Perhaps if they pointed out that the Pointsettia is a Mexican plant, and accuse them of anti-Hispanic prejudice they'd stop this form of madness. It is as if the bureaucracy of the entire US has just simultaneously flipped out.

I am still relatively new at composing these sorts of letters, but I gave it my best shot. I sent the following email out to the AG's office, the Ombudsman, Karen Johnson, Jane Hull's office, and all of the Mesa city council members (for good measure):

According to a recent AZ AG memo written by Gale Garriott dated November, 28: "In the general work area, “Unacceptable decorations would include nativity scenes, crosses, Stars of David, Christmas trees, Santa Clauses, Santa Claus related items, and other similar items that may be offensive to some of our employees or the public.”

This is one of the most idiotic phrases I have ever read in a memo. I am not going to ramble on about why this is idiotic, as I see no reason to explain the obvious. Suffice it to say that more than one political career died when this memo was written. The barrage of hypocritical double-speak in the guise of political correctness will not be tolerated in this state (this is not California and never will be).

The irony of these situations is sickening. One minute you socialists preach that we should all learn tolerance and acceptance of others ("diversity"), the next minute you turn around and tell people that they are wrong for openly displaying their beliefs. If someone is offended by any of the decorations listed in your memo, why don't you send them to diversity training and teach them to be more TOLERANT and ACCEPTING of others?!

Most sincerely,
me (my name here)

Any constructive criticism is welcome.
