[history]
-SNIP-Ominously, the Abu Dhabi series reflects the mainstreaming of anti-Semitism across the Arab world. Saudi Arabian and Egyptian TV are debating whether to air a 30-part miniseries, "Horseman Without a Horse," which is based on the debunked canard "The Protocols of the Elders of Zion," an early 20th century hoax by the Russian czar's secret police that purported to reveal a Jewish plan to dominate the world. The book, a virtual prescription for genocide, has been invoked by every Jew hater from Adolf Hitler to Louis Farrakhan. THE REST HERE ...

Not exactly anything new in the Arab world -- just a little more active than normal.

Not directed at you, but at the author of this and other articles like it.
Arabs, by definition, cannot be anti-semitic. Semites are peoples of the Near East and Northern Africa, including Arabs, Arameans, Babylonians, Carthaginians, Ethiopians, Hebrews and Phoenicians.
For an Arab to be anti-Semitic would be the same as a white person being anti-Caucasian.
Sorry, but I really do expect people in the media to at least recognize basic word definitions. Call me a dreamer.

Tell us something we don't know. Anti-Semitism among Arabs is as commonplace there as knock-off designer watches and smelly cigarettes.
Again. Tell us something we don't know.

I guess the only surprise here is that the PC LATIMES would print this.

The term "anti-Semitic" was created by an Anti-Jewish group, The Anti-Semitic League, founded in Vienna c. 1880.

Arabs, by definition, cannot be anti-semitic. You are getting too much into semantics... Webster's Revised Unabridged Dictionary, © 1996, 1998 MICRA, Inc.
an·ti-Sem·ite (nt-smt, nt-) n. One who discriminates against or who is hostile toward or prejudiced against Jews. anti-Se·mitic (-s-mtk) adj.

Actually LA Times printed quite a few articles on jihad/anti semitism.

That definition is incorrect Veronica. I've other dictionaries that state the exact phrase that I've quoted in my original post. Besides, I happen to have studied history, and can tell you that all Semitic people are supposedly the descendents of Shem (which includes both Arabs and Jews), hence the source of the word Semite (Shem/Sem). What you give is the "common" usage of the word, much in the same way people say "Kleenex" when they mean any facial tissue.
Yeah, there I go again, expecting words to have meaning.
To: Lumberjack
So I post a definition from a credible dictionary, you claim to have seen others but do not post them. Uh huh.

You are getting too much into semantics...
Gee, sorry to request that people use words correctly. I'll revert to the standard Clintonese expectation of elastic words. Again, I appologize if my rigid "word prejudice" has offended anybody.

Thanks for implying that I'm a liar Veronica.

You are now free to be as abusive of the language as Clinton, which appears to be your wish. Sorry to have intruded on your "living, breathing" definitions.
To: Lumberjack
Ok, smarty pants. I pasted from the dictionary, and that was the only definition given for the term. What's more, I challenge you to find a an instance where someone who is anti-arab is labeled an anti semite..
To: Lumberjack
Good, now check for anti-semite.

I did not imply you are a liar. If you have another definition from a credible source please post it. To claim it is 'semantics' to use the PROPER dictionary-based term for something, well, that's Clintonesque.
