As I read a story like this in the news I often wonder if it starts out innocently like this and gets blown out of proportion by some agency sticking it's nose in where it does not belong.
In he aftermathh of 911 we need to be more discerning about what we read.

Well first of all, those images are obviously doctored. The entire story is probably B$.

That is funny! It would happen, too. Back before the PC Wars, people would have just laughed it off, now it's a Federal case to have a sense of humor.

Seeing as how it's posted under Political Humor/Cartoons, I'd say it's more likely satire.
To: fivetoes
Well this one had me gong for awhile...as all good satire does.

This is totally silly. The cops and the social workers need to find new jobs.

Ummmm......I wonder what the police department and the social workers would do if they started getting thousands of emails? Anyone have email addresses?

This is political humor, you know? At least that is how the article is marked.

I've also barricaded myself, but only because I have too much stuff and it's blocking the way from the door. It's nice to know that my pack-rat obsession has at least one beneficial side effect, in that it safeguards me from surprise attack by the omnipotent State.

This is obviously BS. They didn't refer to his home as being a "compound" even once.

This is listed under political humor/cartoons, so it is not a real news story; fivetoes' comments suggest that if we didn't catch on to that, we need to be more discerning. The piece would be funny if it were not so close to what our country has turned into.

ROFL! Would have been a convincing hoax. Just goes to show what state our country is in. My mom and I were getting riled up for a bit out here. =] This ought to make a person think. Well done.

Local television stations around the nation are assuring people that it is not a crime to want to be left alone. LMAO! Thanks!

Funny stuff - but sadly, potentially true.
I want one of those signs!

This brings to mind one of George Carlin's early routines:
"This just in: A man barricaded himself in his house today.
"He wasn't armed, so nobody cared."
