Excellent photos, as always. I've gotta ask, if you can answer - are you a journalist?

Thanks

Thank you again, Diogenesis, for the wonderful, insightful photos. I keep looking for my two nephews who are in the Marines.

Thank you, Diogenesis, for your tireless work posting these pictures with commentary.
Would you tell me please how the food distribution is organized (or unorganized, as the case seems to be here). Who set it up, who is administering it, etc.
Apologies if you've explained it already.
PS. I'm distressed that the Red Cross is involved in the terminal end of the Children's Fund.

Make sure to see that second-to-last picture in the section titled "Target: Continued Multiprong attack against Usama, near Tora Bora..", just above the section titled "Capitalism and freedom in Kabul."
Now that's one heavily armed Mujahadeen! He's carrying what looks like an AK, an RPG-7 launcher (no rocket present), and some kind of belt-fed MG with a big, boxy receiver that looks bigger than a PK. Anyone with a definitive ID on this last item?

Look at the bumper sticker. US Special Forces in the back of the truck.

BUMPING UP
To: The Right Stuff
I think our friend is the purer form of information-disburser. Whatever it is he's doing, it's of more worth than what Life does when it puts out one of its special issues. Diogenesis is documenting things in a more elemental way than journalists do.

Excellent, thanks for the ping!
To: Diogenesis
Thanks! Great post, as usual.

BUMP!
Were we ever so young?

I am getting very weary of hungry Afghan women being threatened with sticks. Time to put these women completely in charge of distributing the food, clothing, and fuel that are needed, and give THEM the sticks. While we're at it, let's give them guns and small business loans. We're giving the country of Afghanistan all kinds of aid and it's being used to continue to put these human beings down. In my mind, that makes us responsible for the sticks too. If this aid is from US, it seems to me that we ought to be able to say that nobody in line for it is going to get whipped for not cowering well enough in queue.
