Lord, I hope so! People who actually live on and work land do not despoil it-- here in the South, some of the earliest conservationists ( in the old, honorable sense of the word ) were farmers, foresters, pulpwooders, hunters, and fishermen who saw the advantages of managing natural resources.

My wife (a registered demo...soon to change) and I, a registered independent both voted for GWB.
I also worked in the Republican campaign and had several yard (much to the upset of a couple of my liberal neighbors) signs on my corner property...
