Herb Meadows, aka Chief Negotiator was an active poster on Free Republic from Houston Texas. Chief's main issue was a flat tax. He was also a former Marine Sharp Shooter from the Viet Nam era. The last post that Herb made on Free Republic told of his visit to the Marine recruiting office, where he attempted to re-enlist, saying that he wanted a chance to kill Osama Bin Laden and that he was still better equipped to do the job than most young shooters that the Marines had. Two days later, we learned that Herb was killed in an explosion and house fire, trapped in a bathroom in the back of his house. The explosion and fire were ruled homicide.

My departed friend Cheif had the NRST not the Flat Tax as his issue. I am a Flat Tax proponent and had many discussions here with Cheif. He was a good sincere man and I miss him.

I was thinking of the Chief this very morning and was intending to bump an old thread to see if anything new has transpired.
I hope and pray that the Chief's widow, Belinda, is recovering and that God is with her.
RIP Chief, you're missed around here.

Thanks for the link. Nothing new since November 11th?
Was re-reading some of my Freepmail and there are still a couple from Chief. I miss the guy.

Freaky stuff!
I got caught up in the fervor myself and would love to go back to active duty. Since the U.S. military doesn't want me anymore, I sent an e-mail to the IDF asking them to join. Funny thing was, the e-mail was directed to a U.S. government site which I found out after the fact.
They politely informed me of the age requirements (maybe at 40, I'm too old to brainwash) and that was that.
I hope I didn't delete the e-mails, this has got me wondering.

Oh, out of respect. Godspeed Chief!

You're right, I knew that, but got it mixed up. Sorry.
