And then, the cycle was complete. Not quite. Then FReeper Registered used it on FR as an animation pic that gained national notoriety (the one with Hitlery hiding silverware in her dark trenchcoat). And then we all used it for the Free Republic Inaugural Ball theme: "Count the White House Silverware" on January 20th 2001 in Washington, DC.

Actually, when I was a boy (late 1940's) it was a very common saying when refering to "uninvited guests" and sundry .....Hmmmmmmm,...shall we say, "Unwelcome relatives".
My Granny (And my Mom) used the "stealing the silverware" analogy many, many times. Hell, Lot's of people did back then. It was very common
