And now the BOR is starting to run water to the KDD district for winter flood irrigation that this area uses to soak up their system for spring. This district is on the west side and gets water from Klamath river down from Upper Klamath Lake.It is 19,000 acres, about 10% of total. Some water will pass on to the Lower Klamath refuge; BOR says they found enough water to do this. The lake is going up like crazy and they should have been running some to whole system to soak it up and recharge dry wells,2/3 of dry wells are non farmers. They should have been doing this all fall. The greenies and gov will do anything to keep from giving the main part of the irrigation district any water, ever again. They have made more and bigger wetlands above lake and catching as much runoff as the can to keep it from the lake,so when spring comes they can say not enough for farms. The Williamson and Sprague rivers are running into lake at 85% of last years flows and this years rain and snow is 3 times higher than last years.(They count precipitation year from Oct 1 to Sept following year). The Conservancy has 30,000acres and the gov has 40,000 all in wetland work; above the lake; most of it in these two river systems coming into lake. So they make a shortage and then sue over it.CONSPIRACY?? Ed Hubel

The fact is, I am a conservationist too, but not a whacko extremist. My parents met in the mountaineers and my entire family loves the outdoors. Why on earth did Gayle Norton get brought aboard? It seems she is doing nothing... for either side. I think THIS administration (and all people) need to take care of our environment and the Klamath Basin is a prime example. I am afraid the issue is getting lost in the muddle. Perhaps time to FReep Ms. Norton again. I can't believe there aren't any influential elected representatives stepping up and taking on this fight.
