White House *May* Release OBL Videotape Today

Chris Janseng just announced on MSNBC that according to Ari Fleischer, the Evil One's videotape may be released to the American public today. No more details as of yet.

I will try to find the link on MSNBC but this story just broke about 20 minutes ago. My apologies if this has already been posted, but I did an extensive search and could not find it.

Any comments on how the American public will react to this?

Now, I just heard on MSNBC that Ari Fleischer is now saying that President Bush wants the American people to see that tape. Usually, what he wants done gets done.

what? OBL doesn't have a ham radio? and his minions don't have shortwave radios? I doubt obl would depend on his tapes being found and broadcast in the original arabic, or with no voice overs or new images. I've never believed the "coded messages to sleeper cells" excuse, as you can tell. Its pretty shallow.

Maybe...I know that's why they asked the networks to stop showing the other videos. Maybe they have no reason to think this would cause any problems among the cells. If anything, I think it would have the exact opposite affect. It would tick off millions of Americans, to the point where they were 3 months ago, and scare the living crap outta any of those "sleeper cells" once we see it.

If he were to encode messages in the video tapes it wouldn't be the first time that he's used our own resources against us.

Not only do I believe that he has used encoded messages I believe he'd keep doing it as long as we were dumb enough to let him.

Sorry, I should have clarified that. This is the tape of OBL and his reaction to the WTC bombings. I believe it was made on 9/11.

OBL probably has both ham and SSB--BUT if he uses them, like a cell phone or satellite phone, the signal can be picked up & his location found. I've heard Daisy Cutters are very effective.

From what I heard, this was a tape sent to a Mullah (don't know if it's Omar, because he was based in Kandahar & this tape was found in Jalalabad), not for public consumption via Al Jazeera.

Of what use would be a message that would depend on american forces finding a tape in a shack in afghanistan, running it all the way back to the states and broadcasting whole on CNN. what would it say "strike now"? so if the tape had never been found no strike would occur? I don't know if you're aware of this, but usually, when communication needs to occur, the timing of the message is important. Like say, the code to pull out of vietnam (bing crosby's "white christmas") wouldn't have helped so much if it depended on the VC broadcasting it. And if you're worried about sleeper cells co-ordinating attacks, then shortwave radio could fill in that void.

I think its just useful, mystifying paranoia.

Think about this, too. According to sources who have seen this video, OBL was "bemused" that the hijackers didn't know they were on a "suicide mission". Or would that more likely be "amused"?

No one is saying that there aren't tons of ways OBL could get messages out. But video is the best. A well organized system can get messages out with just one visual indicator, things so subtle as: what kind of gun he's packing, how far up his cammo jacket is buttoned, what poster is over one of his shoulders. Little things like that can tell people what envelope to open and which plan to put into action. And they don't have to be exclusive, one single photo could contain hundreds of those cues. The great part about cues like that is they're undetectable and one single frame can send the entire message. And a video can't be traced, and form of radio signal can be homed in on. Overall it's the safest and most effective form of secure communication.

That's what I heard. It was not something that he would want aired publicly. That would mean that he knew about it, and he's been saying all along that he didn't plan it, but he wasn't sorry about it. This would prove that HE DID KNOW IT. Therefore, he obviously would not want it broadcast publicly.

But why would he want a video released that proves his guilt to the world? What message would that send to "sleeper cells"? I can see your point on the other videos that we asked not to be aired here, but this one surely proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that not only did he PLAN IT, he was also greatly pleased that it went better than he had hoped.

One reason the President may want this released to the American public is to prove that there is a reason for military tribunals. Who could watch this tape and then serve on a jury? ;-)

I don't put any method out of reach for a guy that wants to destroy all of America.

It doesn't matter to him at this point if the attacks are coordinated or not. He just wants Americans to die.

Hell he may have dozens of tapes floating around out there that will be sending signals long after he's dead.

The fact that he's planning on having his sons shoot him when the time comes and video the whole thing is pretty telling. Video of him being shot in the head would be irresistable to our media and would probably set off a wave of attacks.
