FemiNazi Volcanic Barf Alert: "Turning Point"
Ms. Magazine ^ | December 2001/January 2002 | Marcia Ann Gillespie

Posted on 12/10/2001 5:12:09 AM PST by RooRoobird14

"Racism; political, social, or economic oppression; religious zealotry; ethnic animus; nationalism; old grievances and grudges passed down from generation to generation; dormant one minute, erupting the next. We kill each other, and the AIDS pandemic keeps expanding—tens of millions dead and dying—feeding on denial, inequity, and greed, human hope and misery; destroying families, crippling economies, transforming societies. Before September 11, most people in this country lived as if all that pain and suffering were occurring on another planet. But that was an illusion. It was all happening here.

Ask the woman living in inner-city America about terrorism, and she'll talk about the fear of drive-by shootings, the bloodshed, the many, many deaths. Ask the folks who work under siege in women's health clinics about the threats, the bombings, the fires, the murdered doctors and workers. Ask the people in Oklahoma City. Ask blacks about the terror of racial profiling—about the Amadou Diallo in their town. Ask yourself about the gendered violence that is so pervasive it's been normalized-about the fear and reality of being stalked, beaten, raped, murdered because we are female.

But on September 11, we were all attacked. Since then we have all lived with fear—not just some of us. Now everyone of us lives in that other world......

How we responded, not just a few white men in suits and uniforms. (ROTFLOL--the REAL enemy has been identified!!!) Missing so far from the public debate have been women's voices in significant numbers. Because there are still too few of us in the places and positions of power. Because terrorism and war are still considered men's business, as if our bodies are not used as battlegrounds; as if we have nothing to say, no knowledge, no wisdom—because that's how patriarchy plays. In the wake of the bloodshed and horror of September 11, in the midst of the anthrax threat, the alarmist reports, and the fear mongering, our beliefs are being challenged and tested; we are all struggling to find our way.

My way is to stand firm in my commitment to justice, to peace, and to my belief in the importance of affirming the principles of democracy. My way is to refuse to accept the notion that blind support of militarism and the suppression of dissent is the mark of patriotism. I won't be silenced. This can be a new day if we dare to make it so, by raising our voices, demanding our places at the table, pushing our leaders, and taking the lead ourselves. This can be a new day.

What in God's name is she blathering about? This is the most unintelligible garbage I have heard in years!

This clearly demonstrates the insanity site on the estrogen receptor. I think they can cure this at birth now........... ;-)

Ms. Magazine?

It's like Cosmo. Right?

This article must be #35 of the feature on the '96 Speeches Guaranteed to Talk an Unwanted Partner Off Your Bedroom and Guarantee You'll Never, Ever See Him Back Again'.

Ask yourself if you are an armed woman...I am.

This is hilarious. Since September 11, real men are back. No one is more irrelevant that the angry radical lesbian feminist this author typifies. What a relief not to have to look at them and listen to this. Ha ha ha.

My way is to stand firm in my commitment to justice, to peace, and to my belief in the importance of affirming the principles of democracy. ......so long as it parallels my own socialist agenda. Otherwise, all bets are off.

You hit it. And what makes it even better is that they KNOW they're irrelevant, and they can't DO anything about it.

An interesting Gillespie quote regarding x42 and Paula Jones:

In a recent Washington Times article, Marcia Ann Gillespie, the editor of Ms., was quoted as saying that, "I haven't heard any feminists saying they didn't believe her [Paula Jones]. But we haven't heard what happened yet. We're going to have to wait and see."

================================

We're still waiting for your considered opinion, Ms. Gillespie. ;-)

Condi Rice doesn't count I guess.

My way is to refuse to accept the notion that blind support of militarism...
It's war you dingbat. I liked that how Camilia Paglia always advocated that young women should study military history to overcome this namby-pamby distortion of the military and its role. Or as Paglia put it "TO KEEP THE FRICKEN BARBARIANS AT BAY"

These terrorist feminists need to be jailed. THey are using political demagoguery to take our rights and the rights of men away. It's terrorism because whether you campaign for power to abolish rights or you use the power of suicide jetliners to abolish the rights of the people, you abolish rights, it is part of the total terror war.

These now should be termed terror alerts.

Ask the folks who work under siege in women's health clinics about the threats, the bombings, the fires, the murdered doctors and workers.

Not that I condone the treats and murders but let's call these clinics what they are, the are ABORTION clinics, they kill babies. A murderer can expect criticism, even if it is "legal", it is immoral.

I think the article misses the point. We need to ALL speak up about what's been happening in the ole USA, loudly and freely (while we still can). But quit using PC rhetoric.

Goodness, don't we all wish these confused gender challenged women were in places that in all thier wisdom, they were calling the shots? No female voices, other than these male hating sisters, city councilwomen and academics, have been heard in critizism is because, the women in our population, long at odds with this pathetic bunch, are solidly in agreement with the President's handling of this most serious threat, and actually like men acting like men.

Wake up girls, the rest of us have moved on.

Hey, let's ease up on that criticism of NOW!! They may be wrong most of the time, but they have become so much more flexible in recent years. Just look at the issue of getting a little on the side from some one who works for you. The have given their tacit seal of approval to this, a majoe easing from their position in the old days. There was a time when a highly placed government official, even havng a sexy talk with a female in the office, would have outraged them. Today, they have acquiesced to getting BJs from subordinate honeys young enough to be your daughter. Congressmen, religious leaders have all gotten some under this much more flexible and reasonable policy. The NOW folks are getting mellower as they age, so let's give them credit for that. And, if you've got a good looking honey working for you, go for it, NOW won't say a word (if you're a commie or leftist)!!
