My husband's from just outside Pittsburgh. Did I miss "yens" in your list? As in, "When yens comin' over for dinner?" My father-in-law loved to frequent the "Beer Garden." He'd drop off my mother-in-law at Mass every Sunday and head over to the beer garden. I'm from the West where we referred to such establishments as BARS.

Do they still have 1-900-FAT-GIRL commercials during the TV hit "Bowling for Dollars?"

Also, another unique custom: When one dies, it is the custom to place in the coffin of the deceased a favorite item of his/hers. When my father in-law died, we asked permission from the funeral home to place a deck of cards, chewing tobacco and a bottle of beer in the coffin with him. They said that would be a lot easier to handle than the full set of golf clubs they managed to pack away with one guy.
