When I was growing up during the 60's, I got a hold of an Album by The Lonesome Valley Singers called "Hello Viet Nam". One of the songs on it stuck in my head for all these years. It is about that "quiet time" you sometimes have while in country. That time when all the feelings you suppress try to surface.

I'm writing you this letter
because you are my friend.
The fighting here is more
than I can take.
I'm homesick, tired, and dirty,
won't this fighting ever end,
But, Don't tell Mother this for Heaven's sake!

Just tell the folks I miss 'em.
That I am well,
and feeling fine.
Don't tell 'em that I killed three men
this morning on the line.
Just tell them that thier oldest boy
is fighting like a man.
And, tell them that I miss 'em,
and will soon be Home again.

HI B4, so good to see you. I wish my Uncles that all served and my Father could be here today to see the Canteen and peek in and have a sit by the fire and a nice dinner here. They would have loved this place and FR too.
