I think it's a mistake to promote any idea of FR as a news source. Humph. Great minds, I guess.
I get a very bad feeling about this ...

To: Diogenesis
Obviously a rigged poll. Democratic Underground isn't even listed.
To: Diogenesis
I just voted and Free Republic is up to 64%. Whether this is scientific or not, it shows where people on the internet who want the latest, most accurate news are going on their timetable, without having to watch that guy selling computer learning, etc.
To: Nita Nupress
"Or does it also include articles that most liberal media won't print because they don't want the public to know?"
They tend to exclude those!!

Hrm. That's an odd one, but I would have to rule out the double-oh angle.
Are you sure that it wasn't a really long "To" line, one truncated--note an ending ellipsis (...). If you see ellipses, there were more addressed people than could fit on the address line.
Also, there is an existing problem when posting comments to the same thread at the exact same time.
To: John Robinson; Sidebar Moderator
Leaving this thread about a non-scientific, pushed poll on 'Breaking News' is a joke and beneath the dignity of FR.
To: Petronski
It is much more scientific than the Florida pseudo-recount.

Also, there is an existing problem when posting comments to the same thread at the exact same time. i ran into that last night... funny thing is, their record for the post was in my self search.
i notice nita's search code (post 14, above) only pulls the "from" records when i put my name in it...
so, how does one search on the posts "to" himself?

Please check your bookmark or link that you are using to come to Free Republic. If it is missing the "www." it may cause this problem with some browsers. With some browsers, the cookies get saved on your computer only if you are using our complete domain address.
Set it up so you save the full URL in your bookmark, i.e.,
http://www.freerepublic.com
And or that you are using our full URL when logging in:
http://www.freerepublic.com/perl/login
The above solved the problem for some (but not all) who were having similar difficulties with cookies.
Other cookie problems can be:
- Your local time and date on your system set incorrectly
- Cookie blocking software running; (there may be settings or preferences to allow certain sites to send cookies)
- Ad blocking software
- Firewall software running
- Corrupt cookie in your cookie file or corrupt cookie file (try logging off to delete or manually deleting any existing freerepublic.com cookies or corrupt cookie files)
- Something screwed up in local cache or DNS table (try clearing disk and memory cache, shutdown, power off, and restart; this will clear cahce and reset tables), etc.

That has to be nonsense. Fox can be fun but it is hardly the best source for news even - or I would say especially - news serious conservatives. That statement does not compute; I'm tempted to reply, "All your base are belong to us."
It especially does not make sense if you suggest that it is or can be conservative to have a morbid curiousity about the very latest reports by charlatans whose business it is to entertain. To entertain, that is, with the pretense of informing.
To: Petronski
I was happy to see FR listed; that is the real story.
As far as FR being "above" this, relax, Mr. Hand. : ) At worst it is a tiny little celebration, a cyber poll version of toilet papering the trees - it doesn't hurt anything. Join in; grab a roll of paper yourself and give it a big throw.

You are so right my friend.Tah dah !!!!!!!!

Hi Sweetie! Where else do you get the DNC spin (the actual article) followed by factual rebuttal including credible sources where available, acknowledgement of not-so-reliable sources plus FR experience and humor. Why are those AP DNC puff pieces called "news"? (^:
To: Texaggie79
where's jackie sherrill when you really need him?
4 votes = more than you would have given them?
I guess you're not a demacrat. only 4 votes per person would be a pretty weak showing. :)
