NEW YORK (AP) -- Fox News Channel correspondent Geraldo Rivera had a close call in Afghanistan on Thursday, ducking to avoid sniper fire that came so close the sound of the bullets was picked up by his crew's microphones, a spokesman said.

"Geraldo said it was close to parting his hair," Fox News Channel spokesman Robert Zimmerman said.
Hes more desperate to shoe-horn himself into the news than his idol, Clinton.
Pretty soon, he's gonna Mortondowney himself a taliban symbol on his forehead.

Geraldo Rivera joined Fox News Channel in November 2001 as a war correspondent. He is currently stationed in Afghanistan covering Operation Enduring Freedom. Following are some of the reports he has been filing.
12/06/01: Tora Bora, Bin Laden's last stand. Watch a blow by blow report as the Taliban aim for Geraldo's head.

"...Rivera has suggested he would try to kill al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden if they ever met face to face..." Osama is a genuine bad actor, Rivera is a goofy, wimpy poseur.
Osama would have Geraldo disarmed and bent over within minutes of meeting him.

Who'd he pay to shoot over his head?

I think Geraldo should be commended. He's at the frontlines, near the battle. Don't see many other correspondents in the same area.

I can't believe the Marines missed!

This assumes it was Osama's men. But there are other forces in the area that might like to take a shot at Geraldo: Taliban, Afghan rebels, bandits, or American soldiers.

Whoraldo, if it was actually a "sniper" you would not have heard anything and you would not be alive. Remember to keep your head down!

I agree. I have loved his reports. Fascinating and detailed.

Don't mess with Jerry Rivers!

I saw Whorealdo's reports last night and was impressed that, indeed, he did make it to the front, as promised, and gave us live photos of B-52 bombing runs alongside Northern Alliance tanks. IMHO he is doing a service by getting US this kind of coverage from our (US) perspective and further minimizing our "need" for AlJazeera.

He's such a damn drama queen; I can't stand his "reporting" standups on Fox News. Since he's persona non grata with the military, he cooks up the stupidest, most tangential reporting ("Look! B-52s!" Well, duh. "That smoke over there was from a bombing run 5 minutes ago!" Yawn. "They're stealing and selling our aid packages!" Yeah? They're Arab types, what else is new?) on the air.
He got there too late, he's kept out of the loop because of his love of Sh!%head Clinton, at least half his potential audience hates him - he's sidelined and reverting to his Tabloid-TV roots, aided and abetted by the hyperventilating Laurie Dhues in the studio.
Go open that cave, Jerry; maybe bin Laden's loot is in there.
To: Mr.Clark
You gotta give the devil his due. Geraldo is going where most if not all American reporters won't.

No wonder the Taliscum are getting their a$$es kicked, THEY CAN"T AIM STRIGHT!!!
To: Steven W.
PS - not that I'd ever forgive him for his defense of the bent one, but this is another war and a different kind of war.
