Another 88 Middletown teachers -- including a woman recovering from cancer, a man with spina bifida and a veteran teacher who hadn't missed a day of work in nearly four decades -- were led to jail in handcuffs yesterday as one of the nastiest strikes in New Jersey history dragged through a fifth emotional day without a settlement.

Yep and if they don't like their job or the pay they get, they knew what they would be paid going into the job, get another job.
And some of these people are shameless...crying on the Judge's shoulder re: illness or recent illness even though they are able to work? Good Grief!

The union gave these teachers lousy advice, telling them to strike in this poist 9-11 climate when so many people are struggling. That's just my opinion. :)

The teachers were being treated like other inmates at the 1,328-bed jail, according to Gary J. Hilton, the county's director of corrections. They are rousted from bed at 6 a.m. for a head count, and the lights on their pods go dark at 9:45 p.m. Yesterday's mess hall fare included pancakes for breakfast, salami and cheese sandwiches for lunch and baked chicken, potatoes and corn for dinner..Why would they not be treated like any other prisoner.. well maybe I should revert to INMATE.. as in an asylum!! The food sounds better than school lunches..and probably better than they do at home!! This is punishment?
