You've got it exactly right. I was thinking the same thing but my calculator crapped out at ten million. (It's a cheap calculator ... I got it as a Christmas present last year.)

This would be incredibly easy to detect and prevent. For example, Bill Machrone of PC Magazine recently wrote about how to create a "Clean Machine", where he gave step by step instructions on how to prevent this type of thing. He also recommended ZoneAlarm, a free utility I've since installed that prevents programs from using the internet without your permission. The for sale Pro version really clenas up your PC.

In short, this will quickly be a waste of government our money.

Hahahaha for them. When I am drinking beer, like now, I have to backspace an uncountable amount of times. They will get whiplash reading my posts.

Not to mention, I sincerely doubt the FBI would be much interested in everything thing we typed to begin with!
I would think they are checking for certain key strokes, and monitor certain known people and or groups, and if you are not a drug dealer or terrorist type they could care less about you!

Paranoia strikes deep.........!

I don't want to downplay the danger that this may pose, but my experience as an employee of a Federal agency is that the computer people at our agency have major amounts of trouble recovering what we WANT them to recover (i.e, lost work).

Thank you. There's some kind of full court press against Ashcroft, the FBI, and by association, Bush on FreeRepublic. Like this post most of the people posting this type of material are newbies. Putting some perspective on these hysterical rants is a favor to all of us. Again, thanks,

Even if all our keystrokes were logged by the FBI, there is no way they can read even a micro-fraction of it all. I mean, I would have trouble just reading and filing all the things that I write each day! The FBI would probably need to employ 25,000,000 agents if they wanted to read everything that was being typed on computers. And this is probably a conservative estimate. Assuming a $50,000 salary (including fringe) per agent, that would create an astonishing payroll of $1,250,000,000,000. That's 1.25 quadrillion dollars for the zero-impaired. Not to mention all the office space and equipment they would need, which would easily triple the surveillance budget to nearly 4 quadrillion dollars per year.

Sounds like a very lazy approach to crime fighting. Hear that FBI? Get off your duffs and go look for some real criminals.

It's not nice to bash the FBI even if they tend to be bad to be good, if ya know what I mean. Heck someday they may just decide that FR is an illegal cult and decide to roll over all of us with tanks. Then no more FR. Witch would be bad, but the liberals would love it. Besides, all you have to do to get past the BS is go to some gross sites often enough that the watchers get sick and want a transfer. That's what I do.

For instance, if you wanted to make sure that your message "blow up the federal courthouse Monday" got through without raising a flag with keyword search, you'd send it as something like "a moose bit my sister" or "I like cheese"

"Pssst! Hey, Lewie. . .didja git all that, now??"

;-)
