JimRob can't be expected to police every thread. But the rank, appalling racism of some comments made during the discussion of the Adams Mark lawsuit really is quite beyond the pale. Your thoughts?
"It is permissible to kill roaches at any time including the last ten nights of Ramadan.
And Allah Ta'ala knows best
Mufti E. Desai"
I take this as permission to fire when you are ready, Gridley.
i've attempted to explain that our economy requires a 2.0+ replacement birth rate to function, that in the 1960s the boomers and successive generations have chosen not to produce enough children, the birthrate dropped to 1.7 or 1.8 in the late 1970s, consequently in the 1980s and 1990s illegal immigration satisfied this need for workers.
why blame others for what we did not do? reproduce.
one thread, for example, was the "mexicans told immigration reform dead..." of november 20th.
on this thread, reply #57, maalaea says "ken, mexico is a disease".
and, rwhine says, on reply #72, that "...the average san diegan is a mexican".
these remarks are offensive, and are racist, period.
racism is NOT a part of conservativism.
I believe it is actually true. I remember a story recently where whites were the minority in SD and 'hispanics' were the majority.
these remarks are offensive, and are racist, period.
Wrong, these remarks at worst are bigoted or prejudiced, not racist. For a person or a comment to be racist, it must convey the fact that the speaker believes that the race the comments are directed at are genetically inferior to the speakers race and that the speakers race is a genetically superior race.
There are few more asinine intellectual responses to a proposition than the simple minded assertion that if one is not a bona fide member of a commented upon group, than one cannot legitimately comment. I'm an amateur student of history, and based upon my readings in this area, I feel I'm in some position to comment upon the widespread sociological conditions of pre-Great Society American Culture. No, I'm not black, and no I wasn't a soldier in WWII, nor do I attend black only fraternity events in Florida. But I reject, out of hand, the position that because I am none of those things, I ought to simply shut my mouth, when it seems to me the issues being discussed transcend simply those racial and generational factors.
This is the close intellectual cousin of the offal usually proferred by pro-choice advocates. You know the one, "if you don't have a vagina, don't try to control mine". Well, I reject that flotsam, and see no reason to accept your jetsam.
I clicked you and see you have been here a while. Can I ask why these pictures are allowed? I have seen them sprinkled into sooooo many threads. I just don't understand the purpose, other than to distract or disrupt the discussion. Thank you for sharing any insight your tenure can provide.

I needn't discuss "how it feels" to be anyone else for the simple reason that it isn't relevant to the discussion at hand. Trying to get into the heads of people and "seeing the world thru their eyes" etc, as a discussion technique for political commentary is the left's game.
You're welcome to it.
Otherwise, this discussion bores me. You can have the last word, if you like.
