Bodies of 124 American Troops Have Been Flown Back Home
IRNA ^ | 12-2-01 | unknown

Islamabad IRNA - The bodies of 124 American troops have been flown back home in a cargo plane on November 29, claimed a local daily here on Sunday.

'Pakistan Observer' reported that the troops were killed during clashes with Taliban fighters when they had landed in Helmand province to help the ex-governor of Kandahar Gul Agha's Lashkar fighters against Taliban.

It added the perished troops are being officially described as missing in action.

Meanwhile, another daily, 'The Frontier Post', said 65 US marines have been killed by Taliban suicide squads in southern Afghanistan.

Reports of fresh casualties come as the US and the coalition forces struggle to keep a tight lid on the talk of casualties in the country, the daily pointed out.

Quoting witnesses, the newspaper added since their landing in Afghanistan, the US marines have come under attack by Taliban several times.

It noted apart from more than 2,000 US marines, American Special Forces are also present in the southern parts of Afghanistan.

The newspaper stated that these attacks could be in retaliation to massacre of Taliban fighters by gunmen of anti-Taliban Commander Haji Gul Agha in the presence of US troops.

If we had any KIA at all, some of the bodies would be in Taliban hands. They would trumpet that; so I find these reports hard to credit on that basis.

The TB would break their backs to get a videotape out, but none so far. The guys we have in so far are remarkably adept at staying alive. This will change with the nation building.

Oh no, Badfoil, please don't say that... The clintoons have no credibility at all; even the Pakistani news outlets have more than that.

I respectfully suggest that people not post such nonsense. There is no way that the truth about killed and wound can be kept from the US public today. These stories are to build morale for the Pakistan people sad about the fact that Bin Laden is getting the snot knocked out of him and that America is no paper tiger.

This number is inflated. I suspect the true number is forty-two Americans so far killed in action in Afghanistan.

This would not include merely accidental deaths wherever in the world, that those might have occurred. I am limiting this to deaths caused by the enemy.

You can't hide 124 deaths from 248 mammas and pappas either!

You don't have to. Just admit to 15-20.

Back in 1975 I was in the Marine Detachment of the USS Simon Lake in Rota Spain. On November 22, the USS Kennedy crunched one of its escorts, the USS Belknap.

I remember reading in "Stars and Stripes" that about 15-20 guys were killed. Too bad, of course, but I didn't think too much of it. They towed Belknap into Rota; she definitely was badly burned. The only guys I saw on her had "Kennedy" baseball hats. I didn't think much more about it.

The next year I was back at Camp Lejeune in 1st Bn. 8th Marines. We had a sergant Munoz; he was the machine section leader. We got to talking and it turned out that he was on board Kennedy when it rammed the Belknap. I mentioned the 15-20 KIA figure I saw in S&S. He really bristled and said it was damned lie. There were over 100 KIA, he said; he knew because the bodies were laid out on the hanger deck and he had counted them himself.

I have never heard anything else about this incident; but it sure sounds strange.

I for one would not trust Clinton with my cat's fecal matter.

I'll ask my cat.

OK, that settles it. "Let him anywhere near my litter box, and I'm moving out."

Stolen from another thread, from Endeavor

A large group of Taliban soldiers are moving down a road when they hear a voice call from behind a sand-dune. "One Texas soldier is better than ten taliban".

The Taliban commander quickly sends 10 of his best soldiers over the dune whereupon a gun-battle breaks out and continues for a few minutes, then silence.

The voice then calls out "One Texan is better than one hundred taliban".

Furious, the Taliban commander sends his next best 100 troops over the dune and instantly a huge gunfight commences. After 10 minutes of battle, again silence.

The Texan voice calls out again "One Texan is better than one thousand taliban".

The enraged Taliban Commander musters one thousand fighters and sends them across the dune. Cannon, rocket and machine gun fire ring out as a huge battle is fought. Then silence.

Eventually one wounded Taliban fighter crawls back over the dune and with his dying words tells his commander, "Don't send any more men, its a trap. There's actually two of them."

Bodies of 124 American Troops Have Been Flown Back Home

Unfortunately our reporters were unable to determine the cause of death, as upon arrival in the United States the 124 bodies quickly walked off the planes with their gear and into waiting vehicles for transportation to other parts of tightly guarded American bases. Some of the bodies have been reportedly released to their families for something American authorities are calling R&R.

However, we have recently learned that many of the bodies will be flown back to Afghanistan in the near future to participate in a bizarre American ritual known as bombing talibunnies.

More on this phenominon tonight! And tommorow, and the day after most likely.

INRA news, we report, kind of.

Well, the official line is apparently still 8 killed on Belknap and 1 on Kennedy. If anyone can put the lie to that figure, now's a good time.

No, your wrong, it's over 1000 men killed. Lets make that over 100,000. That sounds right.

The Pakistani newspaper has most likely got good information here.

I think the government should report the American death toll once a week like they did for Vietnam. And they should have an honest death toll including both military people and mercenaries working for cia.

Sorry but I can confirm the body count, at least I think I can. During my second tour one of the officers I served with was onboard the Belknap at the time of the collision. I was the Damage Control Assistant and had the chance to talk with him in depth about it. He basically said that they side-swiped the Kennedy along the port side and the angle of the flight deck sliced off both macks. In addition JP5 from the ruptured fueling stations dumped onto the Belknap as well. She had an aluminum superstructure so that added to the problem. Anyway, to make a long story short she burned through most of the night and was attended by three other escorts that helped fight fires. No helos where used anywhere near the Belknap so there wasn't a chance to fly off the injured much less any bodies. He confirmed the 8 dead onboard the Belknap with the fatalities occuring in the Operations department (apparently the sonar shack to a big part of the hit) and in the engineering spaces with some sort of blowback caused when the macks were sliced off. In any case, the Belknap had a crew of about 450. If a quarter of the crew had been killed you never would have hid it. Nobody but nobody talks like sailors talk.
