A wise American, Richard Weaver, wrote a great book called Ideas Have Consequences. I'd say that Abdul Hamid is a prime example of that fact.

If you are gonna follow a wacko, wouldn't Kool-Aid be easier?

So we find out that it happened pretty much as was reported. The fanatics kept resisting until they only had one grenade, one rifle, and 15 rounds of ammo.... Looks like the Northern Alliance and the U.S. had every right to keep on killing them. They were trying to kill the Northern Alliance soldiers and any Americans they could, and achieve martyrdom.

he may well be headed for a U.S. military tribunal

He may well not be.

Since he is captured by the NA, perhaps they can interrogate him, get names and places of his comrades still in the US, and then let the NA deal with him. After all, the NA would consider him like the Arabs. Therefore, we wouldn't have to go to the trouble of a tribunal.

"It is unclear what will happen to Abdul Hamid..."

May I recommend a few minutes with a pi$$ed off pit-bull?

Mercenaries fighting out of uniform can be, and should be, shot upon capture. The rules of war do not apply.

Bump. How appropriate. The Alliance drowned the Taliban like the rats they are. This 'American' kid should be given an American military tribunal. And then a bullet. His parents, if Japanese, hypothetically, would commit suicide out of deep shame. What odds do you give though that this cretin's parents are DemocRATS who will blame America for their son going bad...?

As I said on another thread :

"Oh well............pass the salt, please." (she said unimpressed as she went on with her life)

He refused to give more than the scantiest details about his U.S. origins, including his real name...He said he was originally from the Washington, D.C., area, but indicated he grew up elsewhere in the states.

Has anyone seen Al Gore's son lately?

Love your graphic, Joe. Did you realize, the very first United States war dog was Stubby, a pit bull? He still is the most decorated dog in our history. In addition, old WW1 posters used the English Bulldog for Britain, the German Shepherd for its obvious origin, and the Pit Bull for the USA.

Yes, I'm aware of Stubby. While I am an aficionado of the Shepherd, I like to give credit where it is due, and would consider a pack of hungry pits the best medicine to be released in the caves of trashcanistan.

Another great read is Richard Harding Davis' (America's Kipling) The Bar Sinister. A must read for any bull terrier owner...

It shouldn't be too hard to figure out who this kid is. It stands to reason that he's the only articulate, white 20 year old from a mid-Atlantic state who converted to Islam at the age of 16.

His identity will become known quite soon, I bet. One of his HS buddies will recognize him from this report and come forward.

Yeah, one of his HS buddies will probably come forward.
But you left out the part that goes "... to plead for this release because he's really nice guy and was only doing what he thought was right".

What he did was treason. It's up to the USA to clean up our own garbage.

What is hard to understand is did he think we wouldn't go over there and take care of these thugs? Ok, so an ignorant Taliban whose world consists of a few square miles and nothing but radical Islamic bilge can be understood for not realizing what was gonna happen to him, event the more sophisticated Al-Qaeda knew they were going to get to achieve martyrdom through all this. But WHAT was this idiot thinking?

It's a cult. He wan't thinking. He was believing what his "spiritual leaders" told him, i.e. Allah would destroy the great Satan.
