Look at it this way. When 5000 American are killed there is a greater chance that you or someone you love was effected by it. Israel only has roughly 2% of our population. So in terms of grief and sorrow experienced, the recent attacks in Israel (20 in the disco, 19 in the pizza parlour, 8 today, 2 on thurday etc, not to mention the 100's or 1000's injured) create the "functional equivalent" to the sadness and anger we attach to the 9-11 attack on the society. To them, 170 injured in one attack is the equivalent of 8,500 injured Americans in terms of the impact it has on the society at large -- the chances that it reaches each person increases dramatically, and it is as you know a very profound and deep feeling to feel.

JUst looking at the pictures, it looks like 2 guys couldn't have carried that much explosive. It seems like someone could notice a man carrying 100-150lbs of C4 even with a coat on. This wasn't done with a couple of sticks of dynamite. I'm no expert though.

I am trying to figure out how it is done... maybe 40 lbs around the torso, another 20 lbs around each leg and some on the arms, underneath a loose-fitting trenchcoat which may also be saddled with TNT. They also like to attack nails and ball bearings to the bombs, so that fragments spray all around.

Been getting stuff in all night and day and night. With the Americans ON THE GROUND, and still shaking that PLO butcher's hand, many, and I mean MANY Israelis are backing the government up against the wall. The pictures here on this thread, from everything I know, are not nearly the complete scene, nor are they even symbolic, especially in the West where the press has always disproportionately sided with the so-called *palestinians*. All the *press* reports of bombs and mortars are printed or reported with the caviats that an Israeli or two were either slightly injured, or that there were no injuries to the IDF. It's because they work diligently to prevent attacks by disarming bombs on the spot, braving car stops for searches when none of them know WHICH car full of palestinians have weapons or bombs, or when and where a sniper is hiding in some family's house in which the people who live there don't even know them.
The short, curt *reports* are designed to keep the panic factor down, but it isn't working anymore. Those groups do not simply carry out one attack every few days, the carry out several attacks EVERY day. No one ever knows when or where the next one will be. How do you know which passenger on a bus has explosives strapped to his body? How do you know which teenager, mingling with other teens, is a Fatah recruit whose main objective is to murder as many Israelis as they can without giving passing thought to whether those Israelis are Jewish or Christian, or even Muslim?
Security is high, but everytime Israel makes a move to try and preempt these attacks, someone, somewhere in the Western World says, tsk, you can't do that.
