Vanity: Are you having unusual weather this season?
self | 11/30/01

Reporting from Northern Ohio. Our weather this season is unusually warm. It has been in the high 60's for most days in November and the latter half of October. The next ten days projected highs are in the high 50's and mid-to-high 60's.

It is certainly easy to take, however, today I saw what looked like Forsythia starting to bloom. Characteristically the pond has been freezing come December 10th. Last Thanksgiving the wind and cold were brutal. Our propane use was enormous, comparatively.

I'm curious as to what other parts of the country are experiencing weather-wise.

We've had unusually cold weather here in Alaska. First we had a lot of snow very early for us. Now we've already had 20 below almost everynight for a couple weeks. We don't usually get that cold till January or February.

But hey, it's supposed to get up to 10 above tomorrow. That's something to look forward to.

I'm in Detroit. Nothing unusual here. The weather is just as unpredictable as always.

Ok, I'll bite. It's been really cold in N. Central Texas for the past couple of days. Around 30°. Then today, it was almost 70. Reminds me of middle spring in Denver. But then... I understand that is normal for Dallas.

Central New York: 2nd warmest November on record, after the 5th warmest October. Mid-60's today; normal is 40. Weatherman says it won't end anytime soon.

Aren't we spoiled little weenies out here, huh? Well, I have an excuse - I've paid my dues elsewhwere. (It'been raining and windy for a week here. A bit unusual, especially the wind this time a year, I'd say.)

West Virginia has had an exceptionally cool spring and summer, a cool fall, but the last week has been like June. Today, it was close to 80 degrees near Springfield.

Too warm here in NJ. Where's the crisp, cold winter air? This weather stinks.

I live in central NC and it's hot here. Hit the 80's a few days this week and breaking record highs. I HATE it. I'm ready for some cooler weather, I'll even take cold. I want a fire in my fireplace, I want to wear a sweatshirt. I put the shorts away about 6 weeks ago and I refuse to get them back out.

It's also been very dry here, we are about 5 inches behind on rainfall. Until last weekend when we got 1/2 inch of rain we hadn't had any for close to 2 months.

In fact it's so warm in my house tonight that I finally broke down and turned the air back on. I know it's disgusting isn't it?

Can some of you PLEASE send me some cold weather?

MKM

I'm glad you asked!
I remember last year at this time the weather being in the middle 70's to middle 80's (Around Thanksgiving timerame).
This year, the weather has been in the lower to middle 40's.

Of course I should add that last year I was in Southern Calfiornia...and this year I'm in Southern Illinois...

I suspect a conspiracy!

Warmest November in Ottawa since 1948--felt more like it usually does in October. Last year I was living in Toronto, and winter started at the end of November and didn't let up til early April.

It's actually been quite cold out on the Prairies...Warm in the East, cold in the West. Cyclical.
