We need the stewardship of 5,000 Free Republic members to insure the continuation of the Free Republic Life Form!

Jim Robinson said in yesterday's post: "My projections are that our regular monthly expenses for next year will be running in the neighborhood of $22,000 per month, or approximately $264,000 total for the year. This means we will need to raise approximately $66,000 per quarter."

If 5,000 Free Republic members who believe in paying their own way and that no free lunch ever exists, pledge $5/month. Jim's goals and needs will be quickly surpassed!

5,000 good stewards of Free Republic pledging $5/month will total $75,000 per quarter. That would allow Jim/John a little breathing room!

Many of us donate more per month than that. So please don't reduce your donation. We just need 5,000 regular pledgers to make things easier for Jim.

Are there 5,000 good Stewards out there who can afford $5/month to keep alive the Free Republic Life Form?

One way to afford this is to cancel your subscription to your left wing fish wrap or bird cage liner. Donate half of that monthly cost to your favorite charity and the rest to Free Republic. If you do this, you remove your money from the enemies of America and invest it with the friends of America, Free Republic! That would be a double winner for America!

You have the secret re a monthly donation. Arrive at a monthly amount that you can afford and not really miss or notice. Then donate it on automatic basis.

No, the secret to not missing it is that I use Lazamataz's card, and hope that HE doesn't notice.

Not to worry, though, I only donate a quarter every three months.

As a regular monthly donor, I'm in agreement with you. Either on their screen name or their home page.

A regular donor of $5/month would have more impact with most of us, than someone who was a member with Cain and Abel and doesn't donate on a regular basis!

There are many days when I thank God for Free Republic - for the intellect (yeah, really!), the humor and the "I loved my country even before 9/11" spirit. God love all of you, it's been an honor and a privilege. Today I made my first contribution - there'll be more coming as long as there is a FREE REPUBLIC!!

I went in for the $15 a month donation the other day, but I'll still give on the pledge drives too.

For some reason that sometimes happens even though it goes through, wait and see if you get a thankyou e-mail from BadJoe before you attempt to do it again.

He's aware of this happening and if he gets 2 or more from the same person he only records one of them unless he contacts you and verifies that you really meant to donate more than once.

In your exhaustive list of possibilities (post #13) you missed the "Dollar a day" option ($30/month) up for which many of us have signed (no dangling participles in my prose). That would be: "833.33333 Good Freepers in for 90 a quarter".

Excellent suggestion. I would have the entire screenname change color for the level of monthly donations. A green screenname for 5+ dollars a month, a blue screenname for 10+ dollars a month and a red screenname for a donation of $25+ a month. I would stop there lest we create a class of "elites" in the forum. Just about anybody could afford to get into the "red" if they really wanted to.
