Eh, not quite. But if enough FReepers screwed up their courage and demanded an end to draconian censorship, "Anonymoderator" abuse, and Soviet-style banishments/purges, it could be. ;^)

While reading all of the posts about banning, I wondered why those banned and wanting to return didn't just swallow their pride and get a new name and return. Perhaps it is because they enjoy their user name's persona and believe they won't be able to recapture it under another label. Also, changing the user name is recommended by FR isn't it? I do so from time to time. I appreciated your post tho I really don't know what all the fuss is about other than ego. Conservatives are quite prideful and thats a plus when defending our cause but can be the downfall of an otherwise sincere and rightous person. FREE REPUBLIC not only needs to survive, it HAS to. Not all lurkers and posters are ideological. They just want to keep up with our side of the news and feel like they are among like minded country men. Glad you came back.

A year or two ago a newspaper in SC printed a story about a guy who had argued with people on the FreeRepublic Web page and Jim Robinson posted his e-mail address and the e-mail of where he worked to encourage "Freepers" to write to have the guy fired (very leftist tactics), which they did and he was. When I signed up a couple of days ago the disclaimer said that my e-mail address would never be published. If this disclaimer was in effect a couple of years ago, this guy has one hell of a law suit. Maybe management brings legal and financial problems on itself through arrogance and mismanagement. Sorry Jim, your problems are of your own making- be a man and shoulder them.

Actually, I am the person that I refer to in this post. I have located a lawyer who will be filing a suit very soon but his concern was not in winning the case (which is a slam dunk) but in the possibility that FreeRepublic is broke and I will collect nothing but a moral victory. He is taking the case pro bono, but I'd like to make some serious $ so I am encouraging everyone to give Jim as much cash as they can afford. I'll be recieving a record of all contributions (through discovery motions) so I will know who is stingy out there. Come on Freepers, Fallclassicus needs a new pair of shoes, and a porsche and a pool and.....Give big so I can live big.

I think that is an excellent idea. I would not object one bit to paying the fee. I get much more enjoyment than $10 per month. It would also increase your revenue,while decreasing the large numbers of hits you have daily, thus decreasing expenses. A win-win situation.

Sorry, dear Mr. Robinson. We can't let you give up your amazing, patriotic, conservative website. (^: You have already exposed your passion and love of this country to a grateful, growing group of freedom lovers across the country and the world.

Even Gen. Washington, with his faith, courage and tenacity, had his many frustrations over endless efforts to whip the ragged troops into shape, find money for weapons, shoes and food, but after spending years in the wilds facing the enemy and leading his troops into battle...he could not turn down the request to lead this new and untried nation. President Washington helped build a concrete foundation for our country.

Jim, you have created and maintained an important place, where truth can be found in the middle of a debate, pols and pundits are held accountable for their words and actions, where we find fellowship in the common love of freedom, and inspiration in the stories and actions of others.

When Elian was kidnapped by Reno, I punched the TV remote buttons in horror...not only at the actions of our AG, but at the news coverage universally criticizing Elian's loving Miami family, parroting the administration and Castro. I found your website that day, and have since felt so much gratitude for this oasis of sanity and the decent, lively and thoughtful people who choose to "hang together."

FR should STAY! There is nothing like it on the web. Jim, you have successfully created a gathering place for conservatives on the net. Without you and the fabulous service you provide... well, I don't even want to go there. What makes FR so unique is the many different POVs. And that makes it truly a valid representation of conservatives around the country.

As for the FR traitors, screw them. If they are saying bad things behind your back, then they have proven that they are nothing more than immautre children.

Keep up the great work, JR. You are truly a gift to online conservatives.
