SAN FRANCISCO -- Perhaps it was an innocent mistake. Perhaps it was tenuous evidence of no good. One way or the other, the disclosure that lids to several ballot boxes were found floating near the Golden Gate Bridge last weekend has again placed this city's elections officials on the hot seat.

Nothing that happens in SF surprises me anymore. It's a political, social, and cultural armpit.

Yeah, but a political, social, and cultural armpit supported largely by your federal taxes.

The San Jose Mercury ran a similar story about this the other day. This sounds like a perfect situation for some Republican group to file a civil rights/voting rights lawsuit against the City or to request that the Justice Dept or whoever to investigate.

If the Democrats can do the civil rights requests they did in Florida after the Bush/Gore election and use a federal agency as a forum to bash Bush, Republicans should be able to do a similar job on Willie and his Democratic machine in San Francisco.

I suspect election fraud and it might be good to start calling a spade a spade.

"There's no need to think anything (nefarious) happened,"

HA!

The Constitution says you must own property to be eligible to vote.

I wonder how may years it has been since our last 'real' election?

I worked in SF for 25 years, own real estate there, and live only about 25 miles away. It's actually a pretty nice place-very good weather, a strong economy, lots of cultural events and history. The local politics are really only a minor annoyance. Try visiting sometime; you might like it.

The San Francisco Board of Stupervisors - perhaps the most insane and corrupt group of people running a city - second only the City of Berkeley. Voter fraud? In San Francisco? Nahhhh, couldn't be! Ha! After all, Da' Major, the dishonorable Willie(I Want A New Ballpark)Brown wouldn't come up that far.

This has most likely been going on for decades and is the only reason that democrats are in office nation wide.

Obviously the head of the elections board - who was just appointed by that paragon of virtue, Willy Brown - didn't take any lessons from the Daleys!
