I don't remember Leahy having anything to say when Clinton and Reno had their agents break down doors in the middle of the night and drag a 6 year off at machine-gun point. No warrant. No court order. Where was this clymer's concern then?

The dems are always on the look out for ANYTHING they can use to run against Bush in the interim election. They've latched onto this like its their ticket.

Hopefully, this and or something else, will backfire on them, because I sure as heck ain't counting on the repubs to fight back.

Where it always is with the Democratic party line, hack that he is. May this all, please God, come back on their heads!

Let's don't have hearings into why we find ourselves in the situation we are in, with thousands of "sleepers" within the country and fighting a strong enemy that is salted within another 60 countries. That would reflect too much on Mr. Clinton.

Leahy is the most despicable, partisan Democrat in the Senate (yes, even more than Dashole). He probably figures that since he got this "100,000-spore" anthrax letter, he has the "political leverage" to blast Bush right now. What a freakin' moron.

Leahy is obviously upset and still suffering from "Anthrax Envy". He may be losing the battle of the spore count and headline space.

He is probably also upset that Ridge contradicted Leaky Leahy's Antrax statements.

We need a Lee Atwater.

. They've latched onto this like its their ticket.

Afraid this ticket won't take them very far. Morning poll by NPR shows about 70% of Americans approve of military tribunals.

Memo to Mr. Potatohead (aka the honorable Senator from Vermont): Why don't you read Rush's column this morning? Seems like all the President (and AG Ashcroft) is doing has been ruled valid by the USSC. While you are pondering that, CONFIRM THE PENDING JUDGES! I am sure your panties would be in a wad if this were being done to the Klintoon's appointees.

..calling them a "marked departure" from long-held jurisprudence customs.

Hmmmmm m ...how about the Senate Judiciary Committee's jurisprudence custom of confirming (SOME) of the President's judicial nominees prior to >150 days after presidential nomination?

What? No mention of Sen Hatch's comment that during the discussion of anti-terrorism bill that a military tribunal may be used? Oh, I see the source. ;-)

If/when I see hearing replay, I'll post time.

All reasons for "justice systems" begin at the individual self-defense level, where every human has the right to defend personal life and property.

When population density within a particular region rises to a level where justice can best be served by "law-enforcement" agencies, individuals have typically licensed agencies -- such as law enforcement and court systems -- to protect and defend those individual rights.

Justice is therefore -- at best -- a local matter; and all higher police powers and courts (that develop as a matter of politics) should, as a matter of justice, restrict activities to supporting local law enforcement in protecting -- individual rights.

The best justice -- especially in wartime -- is local justice.

Anyone remember this????

----------- The Senate, in bipartisan fashion, voted 98-0 (Senators Helms and Craig did not vote, I don't know why)for JOINT RESOLUTION 23. The complete text follows, but here is the pertinent part: "the President is authorized to use all necessary and appropriate force against those nations, organizations, or persons he determines planned, authorized, committed, or aided the terrorist attacks that occurred on September 11, 2001, or harbored such organizations or persons, in order to prevent any future acts of international terrorism against the United States by such nations, organizations or persons." -----------

So whats going on with these people? Are they just bashing Bush and Ashcroft for the sake of it?

"Leaky Leahy is a socialist anti-American freak."

Day by day - moment by moment - it is becoming crystal clear to all who can see that the Democratic Party is "with the terrorists" rather than with Americans!

Get him, Republicans! Make it plain! Terrorism has been prevented, American lives have been saved, by the arrests and detaining of the people now in custody.

This American is very very grateful to the Bush administration, and AG AShcroft, for their efforts to stop the terrorists, to bring them to justice, or justice to them!

Every time a Democrat opens his/her mouth - it is clear they want to:

Further worsen the economy for political gain

Furrhter endanger Americans by coddling terrorists and ignoring the fact that we are AT WAR!

Tired old windbag that is the epitome of entrenched politician. Represents a system gone haywire because of the abuse of power by those minipulating it for their own benefit. Where are the people of VT?

Leahy is a left wing, full boar, liberal, partisan DemocRAT!

Every American soldier serving in the Afghan theatre is subject to a Military Tribunal if they violate any law, but if Osama get's caught, he should receive the O.J. treatment. The DemocRATs are making a huge mistake.

They've been fooled by the left wing media, into thinking that Military Tribunals and the terrorist investigations, are subjects that they can attack the Administration on. They are wrong.

The DemocRAT leadership will pretend in a day, or two, that Leahy doesn't exist.
