WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee Wednesday sharply criticized the Bush administration for a series of practices it has adopted in the wake of the September 11 terrorist attacks, calling them a "marked departure" from long-held jurisprudence customs.

If the people of Vermont keep voiting for Leahy we should stop sking there. I think this year I'll ski in red country.

The Fed should make all thouse ski areas in Vermont off limits to roads and close them down. You know, the environment and all. Oh, wait a minute, thats only good if it's not in their state. For that matter, any blue state.

Unless the GOP leadership sees what is happening, dasshole will trump them once again. I can only hope Bush is still playing with his political cards close to his vest.

I am hoping to see President Bush lash out in plain language against the actions of the Dems going on now and if he does, the people will rally with him and be angry at the dems. Bush will get angry when it involves protection of the nation and justice to the terrorists. That involves war and what he believes is necessary to help the country, whereas he may not lash out when it involves only his normal political agenda.

Leahy is absolutely one of the worst. Along with Carl Levin and you-know-who from Chappaqua.

Time for GOP and the Administration to play hardball: immediately remind the American people the truth of Leahy's treasonous disclosures of intelligence secrets. That'll shut him and Daschle up, because it terrifies every vulnerable RAT in 2002: Cleland, Landrieu, Harkin, Durbin, fatass Carnahan, Wellstone, etc.

Do tell. What did Ridge say?

I don't have the exact quote, but to paraphrase, Ridge said that the threat to Leahy was "exaggerated". (is that spelled right?)

"Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vermont, said at a committee hearing that the Bush administration was going well beyond new anti-terrorism tools Congress granted in a bill passed in October."

this is something the courts would decide, not senator leahy.

It is time for GW to take off the "let's all get along together" gloves and start hitting D'AssHole and Looney Lahey right where they deserve it ... Below The Belt.

No more Mr. Nice Guy Mr. President ... the future of our very existence is at stake.

If you did not read it how can you object. Barr and the others will pay at the polls.

leahy and daschle have been blocking and stonewalling bush's candidates for federal courts. they would rather have their own left wing people in. this is merely a smoke screen to push their socialistic/communistic agenda forward.

leahy says he wants terrorists tried in us courts and not tribunals. there are so many openings that we could not give due process to the number of people that we are rounding up. further, with liberal judges, the terrorists would most likely walk.

i wish leahy would read the words on the license plates in his neck of the woods and heed the advice. what a loser. daschle too.

...The boys are marrying the boys, and the girls are marrying the girls

VT is the only state in the country making same-sex marriage legal.

That's what I've been hoping to see posted. Thank you.

Now, instead of just sitting on FR bitching about this please take the time to let HIM know how you feel about it. This website has the power to bombard this jerk with thousands of emails and phone calls. I'm going to get started right now and I hope others will do the same. God Bless You!

Hysteria aside, I don't get it. Congress authorized the use of military force; there is no war. Horror aside, there was no armed attack, nor an invasion. Bush declared himself the single judge of terrorism, internationally. He's authorized himself to step into any country by labeling anyone a terrorist, Al qaeda or otherwise. I'm with him if he wants to go after drug traffickers.

The drift of threads such as this, is that rationalization overrules any previous standard; that's called anarchy. A close study of the so-called "Patriot Act" should scare the hell out of anybody. The scariest part is that Congress passed the bill on the strength of a summary, which left out the nasty details, which radically diminish Constitutional rights.

Anybody who is serious about the rights of Americans needs to slow down & pay close attention.
