Serious question: Serious Answer

New York is and will be a liberal State. The Dems have a 3-2 advanyage state wide. Among many Dems, Jewish, Black there is a party and ideological loyalty that is all but unshakeable, see the Mayor's race where Blacks voted in overwhelming numbers for Green even though he ran a seemingly racist campaign. In addition Clinton did her homework. With the money and notoriety that goes with being first lady she travelled the state and made herdelf appear to be concerned about the smallest statye issue. Finally Rick Lazio ran possibly the worst serious campaign for statewide office in N.Y. that I have ever seen. His McAiniac adviser, Michael Murphy, showed less knowledge of NY than most people have of Tierra del Fuego.

Will NYers get it in the future? See if they vote for or against Cuom the Younger next year and you'll have your answer.

New York is a liberal state to an extent, however this is slowly turning. Alot of catholics who have previously voted Dem are leaving that party in droves. And in the area where I live alot of middle and upper class blacks are turning towards the republican party. The majority of Hillary!'s support in the last election came from the inner cities throughout the state, while the majority of the suburbs and rural areas went to Lazio. Lazio was a poor candidate, Giuliani would have beaten her handily and I predict he will if he is the candidate in 2004. As far as Cuomo the younger, right now there is a schism in the state Dem party over this Gubernatioral Race. Cuomo is facing a primary against Carl McCall the popular state comptroller, the head of the NY Dems Judith Hope was forced to resign earlier this month over the demand the state party made that one of them drop out and avoid a Ferrer/Green style debacle that they had in NYC. Pataki is a pretty popular governor and I see him winning reelection easily.

This is true, yet HC won by a much narrower margin. A lot of libs already hated her. Given the way she's p*ssed off a lot of people who voted for her since she's been elected (and especially since 911), a RINO with name recognition could beat her easily.

I know you don't like RINOs, but isn't that much better than HC?

Obigatory post in defense of non-urban NYers.

Key to map: The four lower blue blobs are the four major cities; the northern blue blob is greenie land. The reason the blue blob second from left is so long is that it has to drop down to include the socialist republic of Ithaca, home of Cornell U.

Urban voters will always vote dem. Nothing can change that, it's just their nature. Too bad for us that their numbers are so large.
