NBC News ^ | November 27, 2001 | Tom Brokaw

NBC News is reporting that Sarah Brady has lung cancer because of her addiction to cigarettes. She earlier switched to low tar cigarettes on the theory they would be "healthier" but got lung cancer anyway.

. . . the woman has blood on her hands.

Right! And I'm sure she gloats about it everyday. In fact, if the murder, robbery and rape statistics went through the roof, she'd gloat even more, having achieved her goal. And if we lived under a total tyranny as a result of her efforts, I'm sure she'd do an effing jig. Me gloat? Nope, I won't. OTOH, I'm totally indifferent to her suffering.

The CDC is agenda-driven.

I don't get it. She wants to take away our guns but she doesn't want anyone to take away her right to smoke. I'm confused. However, may the Good Lord bless her and help her in this time of trial. For victory & freedom!!!

Gee, guess it's time to ban cigs, which kill more people each year than handguns. How about it, Sarah?

"While I do not agree with her on gun control, I admire her for standing by her husband in good times and in bad, as the marriage vows proclaim.

I hope Sara gets excellent treatment for her cancer, and that the time she has left will be peaceful and serene."

You said it all better than I could have.

Conversely, you abstain from all vice and sin; you pray religiously, turn more cheeks that maids turn sheets and you still die - what's your point?

My point is that Sarah Brady claims to want to reduce gun deaths "for the children" ... yada yada yada ... "because one death is too many" ... and she herself smokes which kills a lot more people each year than "guns" do. I am not taking an anti-smoking position here - I'm taking a Sarah-Brady-does-something-that-kills-a-lot-more-people-each-year-than-guns-do-but-she-still-wants-to-take-away-guns-from-you-and-me, so-what-does-that-make-her position.

I don't smoke but I wouldn't ban it. Your body, your choice, your smoke. No prob.

Also my Mom died of it. I would not wish that on anyone, but for OML.

I am sorry that you lost your mother to lung cancer. She could have just as easily died of breast cancer with metastatic bone disease. That would really be painful! Would you not wish that on anyone, as well, or would you feel differently because she didnot bring it on herself? Wonder if she had contracted breast cancer because she was addicted to gardening and used pesticides with abandon?

"Just a possibility..."

A lot of people smoke the things while knowing what the possible consequences are. Maybe, it is a subconscious wish for death.

The CDC is agenda-driven.

I fully agree! So the question is, why do the CDC's agenda-driven anti-gun statistics cause Sarah Brady to thump her fists on our Constitution, trying to revoke our rights to self defense, because of a small gun death rate, while the CDC's agenda-driven anti-smoking statistics don't even cause her to quit, let alone go on a crusade to ban smoking, in light of a far higher smoking death rate?

I was once a heavy smoker, but I stopped about 20 years ago. As expensive as cigs are and the health hazards to themselves and others around them, I don't really understand why people smoke. But they do, and they will continue.

I wouldn't wish this on her. But I hope her successful convalescence gives her time to rethink her assaults on American freedom.

It'll just make her more of a martyr to them. She will be a "victim" of both the "big corporation" tobacco and firearms industry.

I quit smoking 10-years ago. I hope that my mom and brother quit soon! They are showing some promise in that area.

I'm every bit as concerned about Sarah Brady as I'm sure she would be of me if the tables were turned.

Your post makes no sense and is mean spirited besides. If you don't wish a painful death on someone that is partly their fault (because they chose to smoke), you certainly wouldn't wish a painful death on someone that they in no way caused.
