President Bush returned to the White House today after a long holiday weekend at Camp David. Bush greeted Dayna Curry and Heather Mercer, two women who were held for three months by the Taliban for allegedly spreading Christianity. The President then answered questions from reporters regaring the war on terrorism as well as the news that a human embryo had been cloned. Enjoy your daily dose of Dubya!

I am so grateful that he has the opportunity to get away and do some relaxing (relatively).I was thinking the same thing this weekend. When we can't see pictures of him, he's relaxing, and maybe even having fun, and that's a good thing!
So, I'm OK with it........................sort of.

True! Everyone deserves a break to be with family and friends. I hope they had a nice birthday celebration with the twins.

I love these two young ladies. Everything that is good and right about America is exemplified in them. What a morale booster for the country. I wish I could have see this live. Thanks for the pics!

THE PRESIDENT: That's up for -- he'll find out. Excellent choice for Quote of the Day. I stood and cheered when he made that statement this morning.

You don't know how good it was to do the standard selfsearch and find your thread resting there! This is really nuts-but I miss it (almost terribly) when absent.
Rin-I LOVE the second picture in post #5 where as one of the missionaries speaks at the microphone, our beloved President and the other missionary share a goofy smile. It warms me to my toes! I love our leader and his team.
I miss seeing Cheney, tho. I hope he is doing AOK-what a wonderful, wonderful man. (And Ari's gone missing lately, too!) Where are these manly men we have come to love so very much. And better yet-trust so very much!

I believe there is video of this on the White House web site. I know they have the transcript. It was well worth watching...the President's speech welcoming them was wonderful, and Heather made a special point of telling the entire world and the press (listening with their slack-jawed attitude as usual) that we are privileged to have a godly man in the White House, and what a great leader he is. And she said that they prayed for him every day, while they were in prison!!

P.S. You must have a lot of space on your server to post so many photos day after day. Or is there a trick involved? In either case, keep up the good work!

He saw him today after breakfast (face to face) and said he looked "swell." LOL!

And she said that they prayed for him every day, while they were in prison!! This is great! I would love to see that video. Maybe it will also be on C-Span. Thanks for the heads up. Getting these two gals home safely has got to be among the greatest victories of this conflict to date. What an accomplishment! And there is enough credit to go around to whoever wants to claim some of it.

Heather just touched my heart with her love of country, government, and President. Of course, we always knew he was special!!!

It is my understanding from hearing the two girls talk in snipetts of interviews while still overseas that they were not "released" but they were found by (I think) Northern Alliance soldiers who found them in a make-shift prison. The Taliban had fled to the mountains and just left them there for dead, perhaps in hopes that the US would bomb them by mistake.

And she said that they prayed for him every day, while they were in prison!!That comment struck me, too!! While they were imprisoned by a terrorist regime, they were praying for him!! Wow!!
I couldn't help but see the bond among them as brother and sisters in Christ! What a blessing this whole thing was to see!!

I will bet there was a whole lot more involved than has been said, as far as their rescue goes. They have been very complimentary of the military, but don't provide many details.
I also think that this wasn't an accident, but was a planned mission. The President means what he says.
And if I were Saddam, I would start packing!!

Then when the President says the time is right, let's ROLL!

Geez, I wanted to pinch off Cambell Brown's head this morning when she kept asking President Bush about our VP!! He'd give her the answer and she'd ask the same question again! What a dolt!!

I will bet there was a whole lot more involved than has been said, as far as their rescue goes.I did hear one of them say that to get the attention of the liberating army (whether NA or our guys, I don't know)they burned their Afghan head scarves. I heard this right after they were rescued, and haven't heard it since. Bet it felt good to do that!

The way the President talks about the role of his faith and that of other Americans influencing events always makes me tear up.
