Signs of freedom in women throughout Afghanistan
Posted on 11/26/2001 2:35:27 PM PST by Diogenesis
President Bush and the US miltary have freed women throughout Afghanistan.
They have become doctors, teachers, and themselves.
Unlike the predatory previous X42, a whole nation of people is now either free, or about to be free.
The following is a photographic composite of what has happened

It makes me angry to read the treatment of women under the Taliban. Women died because a male doctor was allowed to touch them or even see them without the burkas. Any gynecological problems? Tough, a woman would have to examine the women and take orders from the doctor from behind a closed door. If the Taliban would have used half their energy that they used in making sure people followed their stupid rules, Afghanistan would probably be a different place today.

We need to remember that prior to the Taliban, Afghanistan was not known as a particularly "religious" state. Therefore the burqa thing has NOT been a part of their culture save for the last five years.
As the women become used to freedom once again, they'll be a much hated, but dim memory.

I don't blame some Afghan women for still wearing the burqas. They are probably still afraid and feel the situation is unstable. They also may not trust the Northern Alliance. Even with their headscarves, though, they still look 100X better than the black-swathed, grim looking Iranian women.

I especially like the picture showing the school children using the yellow food-drop bags for bookbags. I have a feeling they did not throw the food away, either.

Talk about a tear jerker. I hope we never take our freedom for granted.

Aren't the pictures wonderful? And yes, it does make me very thankful to live here in the US, where women do have freedom (despite what some of the feminazis say.)

The Russian papers are showing the opposite. They are publishing photos of mutilated prisoners left bloody in the streets by the NA.For every Taliban soldier killed while inexcusably defending an evil regime, I see ten innocent American civilians who won't have to die in some future terrorist act.
