Vanity: Worst Baby Names
11/26/01

Posted on 11/26/2001 9:13:15 AM PST by Phantom Lord

Alright, this is a total vanity. I didn't post it under "Breaking News" so relax.

My mother and aunts have been pestering my wife and I about when we are going to have children. Lately, we have taken to coming up with the worst possible names for babies and telling them we are considering names first. Well, they get real upset with some of them and even get angry with us for even considering them.

My mother in law is coming down for Christmas and it is inevitable that when she, my mother, and my aunts get together they will gang up on us about having kids. So, what I need from my fellow FReepers is a good list of really bad baby names to suggest to them as names we are considering. You help and creativity is greatly appreciated.

Oh, the last name is Terwilliger if that helps at all.

I know a girl named Pepper Juliet. The fear was that the next would be a boy and be called Salt Romeo.

You might want to avoid (or threaten your inlaws with) these names which will be popular after The Fellowship of the Ring is released.

If you were trying to annoy me, you failed. :) I agree with you. It's unfair to saddle kids with faddish, cutesy names. By the way, I actually know someone who named a kid after a LOTR character. I feel sorry for the kid. But then again, considering the parent, the name is the least of the kid's problems.

Hey, PL, I just thought of these:

Megawati Sukarnoputri Terwilliger (after the female Indonesian President).
Atal Behari Vajpayee Terwilliger (after the male Indian Prime Minister).
Pervez Musharraf Terwilliger (you know the General).

Anybody suggested these yet?

I suggested the name Dweezle Zappa xxxx for a boy or Moonbeam Zappa xxxx for a girl to honor Frank Zappa (^; My wife vetoed those for some reason.

I went to high school with a girl named Joyce Dick. During graduation, one of the predictions was that she would change her name to Anita. She failed to see the humor-no matter how appropriate it was.

Yes, it's a relatively unusual name now... I don't think it's really trendy yet, at least not where I live. We just wanted something distinctive.

Our Chloe has no accent or umlauts either. Her last name is an obvious French surname so we love the look and sound of her full name. Her sister is Madelyn.

My new granddaughter is named Avery and we have heard a lot of positive reaction to it.

BTW, did you know the name Chloe appears in the Bible?
