FReepers! I need emails to send to our troops with the Christmas presents that are being mailed out this week to the 101st AIRBORNE. We have 200 plus presents, but only about a third of them so far have a personal message to go with them to show the troops that we care about them and are grateful for their sacrifices for our country and for putting their lives on the line for our freedom.
PLEASE FReepMail me or send an email to my personal email (below) a Dear Soldier note for the Holidays! Do it today, so I can print them out and put them in the box tomorrow.
AND if anyone could also contribute toward purchasing one or more scarves, or contribute toward the postage, just FReepmail me for my snail mail address or use www.paypal.com and pay by credit card using my personal email address (below).
So far, ABOUT 1/3 of the 200 scarves are bought or pledged, and I would like to put someone else's name, not mine on at least some of the 130 scarves yet to be adopted and given to a serviceman pulling duty on Christmas at an observation post or wherever they may be now that the 101st Airborne has been moved. Guess where? In fact, the news is reporting our troops are landing near Kandahar now.

Email messages sent so far for the troops:
Carrie; Margaret; family in High Ridge, MO; Ruth in Visalia, CA; Laura
Cards coming: Gretchen; "Cool Guy" Christmas scarves URL http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/fr/571233/posts Kosovo Care Package URL http://www.freerepublic.com/forum/a3bd55aeb7d48.htm
For this box we did, but I found out from an officer at Fort Campbell, KY, home of the 101st Airborne, that "Right now, all the guys deployed over there cannot call or use e-mail...it's a standard thing we do when things get hot so that no one can pass on information unknowingly..."
So, I'm going to do another printing Sunday and collect some more messages to go out Monday...just messages and cards I'll get from the local citizenry here, plus any extra FReeper messages anyone wants to send.
The commander in the field will probably not be receiving this shipment for about 2-3 weeks, and will be giving them to soldiers pulling duty on Christmas. So, that is when they will get them....when they may need them the most.:-)
I didn't mean for you to do that, just 15 bucks would have been good. :-} All that I can say is you are a good man.
Did you see Tories post Patricia? We got you covered! You let me know what you're out of pocket and my west coast neocon friend and I will make you whole!
Please let me know if you sent a Christmas message for the troops under your real name so I couldn't match it with your FReeper name.
And if you haven't yet, could you email me one by Sunday. I'm going to do a separate printing to go out Monday as the troops haven't been allowed to use phones or emails since the balloon went up.
MadEagle, I remember you have done care packages and know your name. This is a special request for an email Christmas message for a soldier in the field.
BUMP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wish I could be a mouse in the corner when they get them. Imagine, being in a strange country, away from those who love you, and suddenly being given a gift from people you don't even know and realizing just how much the American people care about you.
