Just MHO, but I figure if you recounted 1000 times you would come up with 1000 different results. Humans are just too imperfect to deal with such large numbers of ballots and do it in a consistent manner. And overvotes and undervotes can't be counted by machine.

And while I'm about it, I'd like to know how, in an overvote situation, the vote counter decides who gets the vote?

The Final Word?

Only in our dreams...it won't go away for another 3 years...and will be brought up at every close election for the next 100 years.

No, there will never be a "final word" on this.

If it is true that the national media has a liberal bias, we'll soon be hearing much more about this story on TV and in the magazines and newspapers.

The only way a story this damaging to Bush can be kept OUT of the headlines is if the rest of the media deliberately covers it up. But, obviously, only a national media biased toward conservatives would unanimously act to cover up a story this damaging to the President's "legitimacy."

So if this story disappears quickly -- does NOT become headlines -- it will mean that the media is not liberal.

And that can't possibly be the truth.

Einer Elhauge had it right in The Weekly Standard last week when he said:

...the Gore legal team did in fact know what it was doing--the legal equivalent of using trial and error to pick a combination lock. It was simply shut down by the U.S. Supreme Court before it found the precise combination of standards (or lack thereof) and sets of ballots to change the outcome.

I firmly believe the 'rats are committed to using these scumball, racist, divisional tactics in every close election of national importance for the forseeable future. The 'Rats care nothing about the choice of the people, or equally applied standards of voting. They want to win the election, and to substitute for a win, they want to divide America. Either way, they view it as a "win", because they have fodder for the next election.

Look for the gaggle of lawyers to descend again upon the next district or state that has a 1% difference of votes again. Look for Jesse Jackson to march right away to whatever African American community that state or district has and cry "foul". Look for Tom Dash-hole and Ted Kennedy to trounce in front of the cameras and cry for further election reform and to blame John Ashcroft for the racist election process.

I'm stunned. After all those newspapers spent over a million dollars investigating this, only to find that Bush would have won anyway, the fearless investigative reporter Michael Isikoff now rises with the definitive answer, culled from the smoking memo: Gore won.

I can understand him wanting to have the last word. The one time in his life he had the chance to have the first word, and probably a Pulitzer prize, he chose to protect Bill Clinton instead of reporting what he'd found. He'd become a Clinton salesman instead of a reporter; traded in his integrity for a pat on the back from Bill & Hill. And now here he is, The Great Reporter, still groveling before his master as the last loyal salesman of the Gore campaign.

Poor Mike. Lucky Matt.

I am getting really sick of the "clear intention" argument. It is the primary obligation of every voter with "clear intent" to clearly mark his or her ballot with the candidate of their choice. To do any less renders your ballot disqualified by a set of mutually agreed upon rules of disqualification. That means overvotes and undervotes. If a voter cannot follow instructions that even first graders have been shown able to follow, then they deserve to have their votes Darwinized. As far as the infamous Palm Beach ballots were concerned, the instructions for successful completion of ballots were clearly present in each of the voting booths.

Bush won, fair and square, so let this insipid issue die already, Newsweak!!!! 'nuff said.

I contacted Miss Cleo and found out unequivocally that Bob Marley was the real winner of the election.

Why don't the Dems just appoint Gore President for life, and we won't have to deal with this again?

Correct me if I have this wrong. (and I know someone will) Were not the Bushies being pressured to insist on a complete state recount and the Bushies said no way?

Well, as far as I'm concerned, it's the same old song and dance - IF we could have just counted these ILLEGAL ballots; IF we could have just counted those ILLEGAL ballots; IF we could have just had one more county; IF we could have recounted the whole state and not just a few counties. These people have IF'nd themselves to death to try to prove they won!! THEY LOST - AND THEY NEED TO GET OVER IT!!!!!
