WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The State Department issued a travel warning Friday for Afghanistan, telling Americans that the war on terrorism, lawlessness and food shortages have made travel there perilous.
"Travel in all areas of Afghanistan, including the capital Kabul and all major cities, is unsafe due to military operations, banditry and the possibility of unrest given the fluid political and military situation," the department said in a statement.

It's good to know that our federal government is there to give us a timely warning against travel to potential hotspots. Well I can strike Kabul from my list of potential winter vacation options.

They also issued a warning for Americans to stay off the moon due to lack of oxygen and severe temperature shifts.

If there exists, in our gov't, an agency that is so clueless, so out-of-touch, that it would issue this pronouncement.......
.................then it probably needs to be defunded and disbanded.

The State Department was addressing the media since what they put out is mostly unbelievable.

We were overseas in Asia in the 1950's when the State Department stamped our passports with a "Not valid for travel to Hungary," message.
'Twas four or five months after the 1956 uprising had been put down by the Russians.

The government won't let me have any fun! I was planning to celebrate Christmas there and while there seek Geraldo's autograph. Guess I'll have to go to Georgia instead.

I wonder if they've alerted the travel agencies?
Just yesterday there were lines around the block booking tickets to Afghanistan, the vacation spot of the world.
Their only cash crop, camel patties, can be purchased at the local souks in Kabul for a fraction of the cost elsewhere.
'Course you may have to pick out the bomb fragments.

I want to know what dimwit American(outside of the press) has travel plans to Afghanistan? Apparently we have a number of Americans enjoying hunting season in Afghanistan - Delta Force 'has killed hundreds'
Keep up the good work guys!
