State officials firm on driver’s license law

Tennessee isn't reviewing its policy on granting driver's licenses to immigrants or changing how it issues licenses to U.S. citizens, even as at least a half-dozen other states are changing their license laws after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

The new measures are intended to help state officials keep better tabs on immigrants. They're being called anti-terrorism laws because a driver's license is often the key to boarding airplanes and to obtaining bank accounts and credit cards.

In Michigan, which has one of the largest Arab-American populations in the country, the legislature is considering a proposal to ban illegal immigrants from ever getting a driver's license.

WOW! Notice how Bubba Bush's new Office of Reich Security already has branch offices in each state? I'm sure none of these directors have political connections that would make these "do nothing but boss" positions a political pay-back. They are all patriotic citizens who volunteered to work for free at these positions because of their love for the US Constitution." Right.

Besides,they will all look so good dressed in their black uniforms after they finally arrive. I wonder if the local ground troops in each state will get the whole black uniform,or will they just be stuck wearing brown shirts?

Illegal immigrants are people who have broken the law to enter our country. They should be arrested, not issued driver's licenses.

Most of the elected, waste-of-good-air, officials in this state haven't figured out the main cause of Pregnancy, either. But, that doesn't keep them from inventing 'new & different' ways of screwing the survivors of Don Dumbquist's term - - so far !!

I'm fairly sure that Mae Beavers & Marsha Blackburn are the only members of the Tennessee State Legislature that have the slightest amount of intelligence and enough 'Backbone' to be noticed on an X-Ray.

I'd vote for either one of those Ladies for any office that they attempt to run for.....including President !! !! !!

I believe in the past, Tennessee has just let the illegals go due to the costs involved in deporting them. This may change now.

Jerry Gonzalez, a local lawyer and activist for immigrant causes, said repealing the current state law would be a knee-jerk reaction and probably would prompt a lawsuit.

''If you really want to hijack an airplane, do you think not being able to get a legitimate driver's license is going to stop you from hijacking an airplane?'' Gonzalez said, adding that people who want phony licenses can get them.

This guy is a knee jerk idiot traitor and he would lose such a lawsuit.
