that article is the biggest piece of horse sh*t i have ever seen, doesn't say anything at all, you should skip wasting our time posting such garbage.

Sorry I offended you but I got it through an email and that person was concerned. I have not seen anything like it. You could be more considerate.

Welcome aboard new person, but you are mistaken about this article. This is only one of several moves afoot to put more and more land under federal control. Stick around and learn.

The Legislative Guidebook as currently drafted federalizes local and state land use control, tramples private property rights, discriminates against minority business owners, and impedes economic development.. How?? This is an opinion of what the guidebook will do. I wonder what other opinions might be?
I know that sometimes fundraisers will hype an issue to raise money, If this is hype, that might be why.
The issue is important. Property rights are human rights. I don't seen anything wrong with expressing your concerns to congress. You can tell them to protect your rights and ask them to investigate this issue at the same time.

I am not a new person, I have been on FR for a very long time, but sometimes such things get past me. I was just asking for more information on this article, my first response was that maybe it came from an unknown source such as propaganda from another country to get us off guard.

affordable housing research & technology division is a good place to start. About 1/3 down the page on the site.
Pattycake, if you'll note the new person comment was to veryconernedamerican who was waiting anxiosly for this to appear apparently.
I'll find you some more on it.
To: pattycake

Good post.
Whether or not the piece you posted is exaggerated or alarmist is not really important.
The important thing is constant vigilance. The fact is, the piece could be true.

GROWING SMARTGrowing SmartSM is the American Planning Association's multiyear project to draft the next generation of model planning and zoning legislation for the U.S. It is intended to update the Standard City Planning and Zoning Enabling Acts, drafted by an advisory committee of the U.S. Department of Commerce in the 1920s. These two model acts served as the basis for enabling legislation for planning and zoning for much of the nation.I remember some of this. I believe I've linked some of this info somewhere before as a matter of fact.
To: pattycake
GROWING SMART is a service mark of the American Planning Association.
Service mark is what the SM stands for.

Thank you for you concern as all Americans would be. Clinton was any eye opener and he still has people out there, I don't know what this is at the moment but if I have you good people behind me, we can find out. Thanks so much.

YOU SEEM TO BE AN EXPERT ON HS, BS AND THE LIKE. . . FROM LOTS OF FRIENDLY CONTACT?
It seems to me you could at least more kind. If one "merely" assumes--reasonable logic given a lot of givens that I won't go into here--if one "merely" assumes that The Bible is right about an evil world government forming during our time. . . . and if 1,000's of other data points all agree in the same direction about such . . . it seems to me, this is at least plausible.
Sure it needs checked out. But given 8 years of Bimbo Crusher as the Commie in Chief, it wouldn't surprise me a bit. There are other data bits in this ball park from different perspectives about different topics but in the broad land use area--and most of them are extremely sobering and threatening to our traditional way of life.
Perhaps you need to wake up and smell a different flavor of BS.

I have no idea what they are talking about. But I am concerned.

Hmm, I see an article with a lot of paranoia about a Smart Growth initiative, but without one iota of information about what's actually IN that initiative. For all we know, this thing might prohibit the building of dumps next to schools and homes, and require land developers to install fire hydrants.
