stande waite is once again talking out of that part of his anatomy where his head usually resides. There was no 1866 Supreme Court decision upholding secession. There was an 1869 decision confirming the illegality of secession.

"....nine years.... in SC. What does that make me?"

It makes you a person whose vote is worth about as much as a coupon for Alpo dog food, about 1/100.

Sorry it took me so long to reply. I've been away on business. It takes longer to drive than fly.

That's it? That's the best you can do? One feeble attempt at an insult and nothing about the mechanics of secession? You disappoint me.

He'll be back later. Stande is probably busy making up a Supreme Court decision that supports his claim that the court found secession legal in 1866. This should be good!

If you reread my 'insult', you will find I was talking about your vote, not you personally. (Prejudice is something that's very hard to overcome, isn't it?) But the "Power of Pride" will get you thru, won't it?

Yes, I'm dissappointed too, being many miles from my reference books. But basically, I'm just lurking for the first year here on FR, so I'll get over it.

"...screw up life in the South too"

That's for sure. Being a northern born copperhead, two things really made an impression on me when I first moved to SC: (1) race relations were far better than in the north; (2) the roads were in much better condition than up north.

Now, since our 'trusted' Representatives have sold their souls and our liberties to the north, these things have gotten worse.

Your reply is a plethora of not too well crafted disinformation.

go look it up. it was 1866 and the damnyankees were trying (futily!) to charge president davis with treason- they got slapped down real hard by the USSC.

I'll ask again. What is the 1866 Supreme Court decision that you claim ruled that secession was legal?

Yeah, I figured that. It's the same as when he says the North committed war atrocities but the South didn't. Every side commits atrocities in almost every war, especially a four year war with 600,000 dead.

If you neoSlavocrats would get away from those lawyerly "reference books" that twist the truth and just read the Constitution, you'd make a lot more sense.

Now, since our 'trusted' Representatives have sold their souls and our liberties to the north, these things have gotten worse.

It's the cost of industrial success. As every area of our country industrialized, the slow life gets replaced by the fast life, and friction becomes more likely. I's easy to get along sitting on a porck drinking beer and making homemade ice cream all the time, not as easy when there are deadlines, hustle and bustle, labor issues, etc. You need to learn to look at these problems intelligently so you can solve them instead of pointing fingers of blame every which way.

It would be good for you to know the slaveowners who wouldn't give up their slaves while the rest of the country was ramping the practice down were the worst of tyrannists.
