Skooz, since you're a Who fan, what's your take on 'Eminence Front?'

I don't have a clue what the song is about, if it about anything. But musically it is very nice; extremely well played and produced.

Forgive me if someone has posted this. I was listening to Slow Train Coming by Bob Dylan the other night and couldn't believe how dead-on it was. Some sample lyrics:

Slow Train, by Bob Dylan

All that foreign oil controlling American soil,
Look around you, it's just bound to make you embarrassed.
Sheiks walkin' around like kings, wearing fancy jewels and nose rings,
Deciding America's future from Amsterdam and to Paris
And there's a slow, slow train comin' up around the bend.

Man's ego is inflated, his laws are outdated, they don't apply no more,
You can't rely no more to be standin' around waitin'
In the home of the brave, Jefferson turnin' over in his grave,
Fools glorifying themselves, trying to manipulate Satan
And there's a slow, slow train comin' up around the bend.

Heck, almost every country song - Country music is one of the few popular music forms where loving God, your country and your parents is still and always has been, OK.

You're so right. I've always loved the Alabama song "High Cotton" for just that reason.

You're right -- what a great guitar intro on the live 'Sweet Jane'. One of the best. And the rest of the song ain't bad either.

LOL -- but "Conservative slant"?? Yeah, the song is probably about either trannys OR drugs -- you can't listen to closely to his words because you'd vomit, but that's a typical Lou Reed song, isn't it?

Elvin Bishop was on Highway 61 Revisited?

That's my recollection, from those ancient days when one read liner notes on an LP.

When he hit with Fooled, I made a mental note that's still with me, noting the contrast between the style, context, etc.

I MAY be wrong (for the first time!), but do know this: Alvin Lee (saw him twice) rocked, Alvin Bishop didn't (wouldn't go to see him for free).

And Alvin and the Chipmunks ALWAYS sucked. I don't think it was even THEM singing.

Rush - Red Barchetta
Creed - One (lyrics below)

Affirmative may be justified, take from one give to another
The goal is to be unified, take my hand be my brother
The payment silenced the masses sanctified by oppression
Unity took a back seat sliding further in regression

(chorus)
One oh One
the only way is One
One oh One
the only way is One
I feel angry I feel helpless, want to change the world
I feel violent I feel alone, don't try and change my mind

Society blind by color, why hold down one to raise another
Discrimination now on both sides seeds of hate blossom further
The world is heading for mutiny, when all we want is unity
We may rise and fall, but in the end we meet our fate together

(chorus)
One oh One
the only way is One
One oh One
the only way is One
I feel angry I feel helpless, want to change the world
I feel violent I feel alone, don't try and change my mind

U.S. Marine Corps band tooting a good snappy rendition of Yankee Doodle while marching down mainstreet Kabul does it for me! :-)

265+ posts and no other mention of this American musical icon!
