That'd be a good name for a band
my fertile yet scary brain | 11/20/01 | Xenalyte

Posted on 11/20/2001 8:17:29 AM PST by Xenalyte

Readers of Dave Barry are familiar with this one. When Barry finds a particularly felicitous turn of phrase, he notes that it'd be a good name for a band. (Some examples that come to mind are the Foliage Eaters, the Radioactive Muskrats, Ruth's Hat, the Ozone-Depleting Troglodytes, and one of my favorites, Pinot Noir and His Nuances of Toast.)

So, fellow FReeper Word Mavens and fans of Mr. Language Person, what have you found (both on FR and in your real lives) that would make a good name for a band? (Feel free to include Barry's contributions, if you know any.)

There was (or is) a band in the midwest called "The Four Skins."

A friend had a tape by a band called "Throbbing Gristle"
The first track was narration and military sound effects.

My Chemical Engineering college roommate returned from lab one day and announced he had discovered a great name for his band:

Mother Liquor.

I just looked at him and shook my head.

Just the numerous removals struck me as the ideal band name. But then again, I think the "Dead Kennedys" is the best name ever...

Speaking of, there used to be a local band working the New Orleans nightspots whose name always cracked me up:

Ich Bin Ein Berliner

I always thought "my grandmother" would be a great name for 1) a band (My Grandmother ROCKS!) and/or 2) an athletic team (we got our @sses kicked by My Grandmother!)
