Shu Yang is a proud alumna of the University of Colorado at Denver. An economics major, she graduated at the top of her class and received her diploma last month.
But ask her to identify Denver on a map and Shu draws a blank. Mention the Broncos and she shakes her head. She has no idea who Denver's mayor is. In fact, what she knows of the entire state of Colorado boils down to four words: "They have mountains there."

Your hyperlinks are not obvious enough. This violates what I call the Aunt Agnus rule. If my Aunt Agnus could figure out you are supposed to click on it, then it is OK. The only obvious link on your page is the vote button. Users are used to either seeing an underlined blue link, or a button (and it should be an obvious link button, not a rectangular graphic). Vary from those two standards at your own risk. I didn't realize much of the stuff on your main page linked to other items until the cursor passed over them.
Lose the blue border around your page. Change your screen resolution to 640x480 (or even 800x600) and it will become obvious why you should lose this. It doesn't add much to your web page, and it takes up too much space (especially VERTICAL space). The most important part of any web page is the first two vertical inches. You are leaving that space blank.
