This reporter managed to write an entire story and not sneer at Crawford, Americans or American values until the final paragraphs. Must be losing her grip. Why can't they just compose a pleasant, interesting story without having to add on a nasty bummer at the end? Crawford will never look as bad as our National Mall in DC, which is 15-20 long blocks of Third World street vendors. Terminal irony? Sheer snotiness? Does anyone else have a theory? AdR

I'm a stickler for spelling, especially by journalists......."visable" ???? Should be visible.

I think that his points to how "centered" the President is, which is in stark contrast to his predessor and, especially, his opponent in last year's election.

Even though there is a cheap shot at Crawford at the end of the article, it still gets the point across: our President knows who he is and doesn't need the glitz and glamour of the office.

Perhaps because Bush came from a rich family, he seems to enjoy the lack of pretension that exists among the people in this community. Whenever he comes here, he is always photographed wearing jeans, boots and an inexpensive brown jacket.

I always look forward to the pictures that are released when our president visits the ranch! Great post!

This article is full of cheap shots. GW owning a ranch near Crawford or any other place in Texas isn't about impressing anyone. There's thousands of Crawfords dotted all across our nation (The Red Zone), including a lot in Florida, Ms Fritz. This reads like another disgruntled reporter who is p*ssed at her boss for making her trek down to Crawford to cover the President. Get over it, honey - he WON (thank God).
