Just finished re-reading the Hobbit, am about 1/4 of the way through The Fellowship of The Ring. I only read them once over 20 years ago, so it's been a blast.

Gandalf looks meaner in that picture than what I imagine. Of course, it depends on which scene that's from, but in general I think of him as a nice, gentle wizard who only deals with the dark side because he has to.

It's obvious from what I've seen that the movie will be far better that the Ralph Bakshi effort, although the story is so great even that version was enjoyable.

Nice pics. You wouldn't have one with the balrog? Saw the preview before HP (preview I hadn't seen before) and the balrog is on there for like 2 seconds, but it was enough for me to jump barely keeping internal a "holy crap it's balrog". I'm actually not much of a fan of the books (really like the story, really like the characters, find Tolkien's writing to be rather frustrating in it's fluctuation between brilliance and crep), but I am very much looking forward to the movies.
