uh oh...this is going to get ugly...

While many informed historians will agree that Lincoln was not 100% innocent, this is WAY off base! This garbage is a waste of bandwidth...

You should thank Lincoln every day. Without the benefit of the civil war the South would be like South Africa today with 95% blacks, and whites fearing for their lives. Be grateful for the Great Emancipator.

I was thinking the same thing, even b4 clicking on the headline.

The primary issue is to prove that the earth is flat. Then, we can ponder this Lincoln thing!

Well, I'm glad to seen that stupidity is alive and well!

Whomever made this stuff up must be on a trip of some kind, probably an old friend of Timothy Leary's.

What is this, Bash Lincoln Day? At a time when it is desirable to keep the country focused and united, this drivel is unhelpful and unwelcome.

Today is the Anniversary of the Gettysburg Address -- an article about it was posted earlier and it brought all the Hate-mongers out of the woodwork.

Abraham Lincoln should without a doubt be named Americas greatest war criminal. Sorry, but that's total bullshit. The civil war was a conflict between a new American system, including both the new political freedoms and the thing then called the American System of Economics (Friedrich List's theories and the rapid funding of infrastructure) all of which stressed the worth and dignity of individuals, and the total system of exploitation which was the British Empire after the Napoleanic wars.
Anybody who could call Abe Lincoln a war criminal or traitor is an idiot who should be in a cage for people to stare at at the zoo.

So few people realize that the south was destroying itself morally and fiscally with it's devotion to slavery, and that the North actually put it out of it's misery to save itself.
Consider Afghanistan. There is no way on earth the Union could have beaten the south if the south had not known in it's heart of hearts that it was an abysmal failure overall and most certainly on the wrong path.

This is pretty good stand up comedy in sort of a noir sense. Likely Ron Holland is contemplating pieces on the ANC as the peacemakers for our time and the Taliban as great statesmen.

"Any people anywhere, being inclined and having the ower, have the right to rise up and shake off the existing government, and form a new one that suits them better."I used to think that Lincoln was referring to the founding of our country, but have come to the understanding that Lincoln was referring to himself.

Ah, yes, I should have remembered. Read the Gettysburg Address and the Second Inaugural Address and you get pretty close to the soul of the man.
To: tberry
tberry, are you employed by Al-Jazeera.
