MUSLIM CLERIC INSISTS 20 'SUITCASE NUKES' IN U.S.

A leading Muslim cleric Shaykh Hisham Kabbani, founder of the Islamic Supreme Council of America (ISCA), insists bin Ladens network has bought more than 20 nuclear warheads carried in suitcases.

In 1999 Kabbani first warned the U.S. State Department of bin Laden's impending terrorism.

He told the U.S. Government bin Laden was training suicide bombers in Afghanistan ready to move to any part of the world.

Kabbani said the nuclear weapons, sometimes referred to as "suitcase bombs", were sold by the Russian mafia.

Little known factoid: that photo is from the poster for the movie version of OBL's story, called "Bert of a Nation". [rimshot]

Even without shielding, a minimum Nuke would weigh close to 90 lbs. - With sufficient shielding to avoid detection, it would weigh over 175 lbs

If you say so, and I hope you're right. However way back in 1970 my college Physics III (modern and nulcear physics) proffessor made a comment that when he worked on such things, presumably in the 50s or early 60s, they carried the "bomb" to the test site in a suitcase. I indicated that that seemed awfully small, and he just smiled. ( He also dismissed class so that the students could attend an all student assembly which was an attempt to declare a student strike in conjunction with the so-called "invasion" of Cambodia in the spring of that year. Not sure about his motivation for doing so, in the event the assembly voted NO on a strike resolution, and roundly boo'd the guy who shouted "Shut it down, or we'll burn it down!". The guy was later arrested for attempted arson for throwning a "firebomb" into the student union building, scorching a carpet. :) )

Guess we need to make it known that if so much as one stray rad of radiation leaks out of the mosques, Mecca, Medina and Qom all get regular and overwhelming doses of cobalt-60 accompanied by 5 million degrees and 700 mph winds.

I don't know why some FReepers are bashing Kabbani here. He seems to be denouncing Muslim extremism and working with our authorities to his own peril. He may be wrong about the suitcase nuke threat, and I hope he is, but he seems right in his stance. If there were more Muslims like him, we'd have a much easier time rooting out the terrorist cells amongst us. We can't condemn Muslims who don't speak out while simultaneously condemning one who does.

A lot of good work gets done on those knees when they are plugged into heavenly switches. Also you complete the circuit by drawing your hands together. then watch the sparks fly!!!!!!

The main part of this story is that most of the mosques in this country are headed by extremists that parrot the al-Qaeda line. The Muslim religion and schools have been taken over by extremists just as our education system has been converted to socialism.

The threat of young students being brain-washed will haunt our country for many years in the future. These Muslim extremist Mullahs have learned their lessons well by following the example of the Socialists in their world-wide drive toward power.

Engage brain before opening mouth. Jet Propulsion Labs, Caltech, and a large defense contingent in LA

Lets not forget Boeing satellite systems (Formerly Hughes) located right by LAX. They make, operate and store the vast majority of all satellites used for military and commercial applications. Mark shouldn't be so quick to cripple our economy and our military and our citizens. Memo to Mark: The enemy in this war is Al-Qaeda and the Taliban and not all Americans you personally dislike.

It is possible to hide a nuclear device in a heavily shielded container...lead and or gold lined. That's not a problem. The problem you face is when you unpack it from its shielding. I'm sure the NSA, CIA, DIA, and a whole host of security agencies maintain constant monitoring from space of the entire continental U.S. I would give a terrorist bent on detonating a nuclear device about 10 minutes from the time the device was unpacked before the FBI's nuclear response team was kicking down the door behind a hail of lead.

"bin Ladens network has bought more than 20 nuclear warheads carried in suitcases.

"And that is why they had to hijack planes to crash into the WTC, right?"

Interesting logic.

Of course, by that logic, the US doesn't have any nukes either, since we didn't use them in Afghanistan.

"Yawn."

Oh, I see. You're tired. Must have missed nap time. Maybe you'll make more sense after you get some rest, eh?

Has anybody checked out the L.A. Times piece regarding bin Laden's purhase of a U.S. AIR FORCE JET

Not really a big deal. The T-39 is a smallish business type jet. Much shorter legs than more modern designs in the same class. Probably bought it because it was cheap, not because he couldn't have bought something better on the open market. The AF got rid of them because they were getting too expensive to have around. Also because they functioned as the "base bird" at many bases, and the AF has centralised control of almost all transport. Pilots assigned to non-flying duties would often fly the T-39 (and earlier the T-29/C-131) as a way to keep their flying hours, and flight pay, up. Only person I ever talked to that had flow one rather liked it. Very manueverable.

"I agree, his best shot was on Sept 11. It has been all downhill for bin laden since then! If he had nukes he would have used them by now."

You're whistling in the dark.

The enemy is not a computer program, with a completely predictable outcome presuming the variables and input data are known. It is not prudent to infer a logic table that the enemy must be obligated to obey.

Sometimes enemies surprise us.

My husband says he thinks that was back when bin Laden was in Sudan and that he crashed it.
