Saturn's comin' out with the VUE—what do you all think? Will it be a good deal? Or a big flop?

I want some input from y'all because I know nothing about SUV's (except, of course, that they are a wonderful way to annoy the left!).

PS This is my first time posting a thread! Be gentle. Hah hah . . . At least I didn't put it in Breaking News! At least, I hope I didn't . . .
:o)

Dear GM intelligence gatherer, just one question -- when is Saturn going to give up on the 1978 front-end styling for all its vehicles? Zero personality. Bland. BO-ring.

2.2 l V6 engine? That's less than half of my little 2-door Mustang.

When is it coming out? Price? It's hard to tell the size from the pictures. Will it be on the small end (Jeep Liberty, etc.) or on the large end (Ford Explorer, etc.)?

I don't necessarily need power. Just more room.

Forgot to add:

It does look very nice. I was disappointed to see that Jeep went wimpy and suburban with the Liberty. It's good to see other brands picking up the slack.

Saturns are crap. If you want a good SUV, get one of these:

Toyota Highlander.

I'm on my 3rd SUV. The first two were just called trucks back then. The first was a 76 Cheerokee with the un-pc indian logo. The second was a 83 Blazer. Now I'm driving a 99 Durango. I've had great success with all of them. I like the Durango the best so far, maybe because it is the first brand new one I ever bought. If you're going to get an SUV, get one with a big enough engine, V8, for towing, climbing and weather conditions. Of course, the gas is terrible. I get about 17 city, a little more on the highway.

FWIW from my viewpoint I don't think Saturns are all that bad. They're pretty much made in America which is a plus for me. A second plus is my dollar doesn't go to the unionized labor that helps to put socialists in office.

The people I know htat have had Saturns liked them and had less trouble than with other makes.

The downside for me is they are like toasters. They work fairly well but have no personsality. And even though I'm only 5'10" my head hit the roof on the Saturn sedans I looked at.

Saturns have also always seemed to be resonably priced when I shopped for a new car.

I guess the big turn off for me is the lack of personality. I prefer to drive a car that is distinctive, even if a bit quirky. I have a soft spot in my head (year head) for French cars and hae owned several including a veritable fleet of Renaults. NOtive I said "owned" instead of "driven". That is for the good reason that few, if any Fine Frecnh Automobiles actually move under their own power! Now when it comes to Lawn and Driveway Ornaments, or shlters for some of Mom Natures less dsirable creatures, French Automobiles fit the bill splendidly!

As far as a Saturn SUV goes I wasn't aware they were making one. However If I were looking for and SUV I would probably check them out. BTW the SUV I have been looking at is the Hyundai Santa Fe. A couple of friends own them and love them. No problems whatsoever. I can't bring my self to buy one though because they're built in Korea. That shouldn't really matter much because even cars built overseas and sold here create lots of jobs. But after a slew of French cars I just can't bring myself to buy anything other than say a 1973 Dodge or Chevy.

The term SUV is evolving I guess.

The original SUV's were heavy-duty 4WD station wagons, such as the Suburban, Travelall, Bronco, Cherokee etc. - They were good for 'sport' (hunting, fishing, golf, etc.) and utility, such as hauling heavy objects, tools, building materials, and household goods.

They were the most logical vehicle for most people to own. - The new stuff is garbage. - They have light duty frames, thin body metal, small engines, and flimsy transmissions.

They also are dangerous to ride in for the above reasons.

I don't know when they're coming out. Sometime in the next couple of weeks. They're supposed to be priced under $20,000 and are small. They seem nice . . .

Don't ya hate it when you are just about to post something and you get company!! Sorry for the delay! :o)
