In a country like Afghanistan a MULE makes FAR more sense and is a FAR more STURDIER ANIMAL!!! (Chuckle!!!!) . ONE REASON ...

It WILL NOT EAT or DRINK to excess!!!!

ANOTHER thing to ponder....

you can SLASH THE MULE'S HINDQUARTERS TO RIBBONS WITH A QUIRT BUT IT WILL NOT SWIM AN UNSWIMMABLE RIVER!!!! ROFL

Another things about a mule it can climb country that a horse SIMPLY CANNOT NAVIGATE!!! Hence in any LONG DISTANCE RACE... ALWAYS BET ON A MULE!!! ROFL

Some of those horses look like donkeys. Kind of like the U.S. Senate.

Please refrain from further slandering those noble animals by comparing them to useless scum like Lott,Kennedy,Daschle,Buh-Bette!,or any other Dim Senator. The Donkey has been a friend to all of mankind for all of recorded history, while US Senators are only friends to each other.

Does anyone know the difference?

Thank you for asking!

Is there a difference in Special Forces and Special Ops?

You betcha! The ONLY "Special Forces" are those soldiers in the US Army Special Forces, period! The others are "Special Operations Forces". The differences are many, but primarily are in the area of training and the missions they are assigned. "Special Operations Forces" are not trained or mentally equipped to live with and fight with the NA and other indiginious forces. SF IS. That IS their job.

This should NOT be taken as saying the Special Operations Forces people are not quality people. They are,and beyond that they are all volunteers who are the best of their particiluar service who have received extensive training. Some are pure assault troops like the Rangers, and some are aircrew, like the helo and aircraft pilots who fly air support missions.

Those are not, I repeat, NOT regulation McClellan saddles. Georgie Patton would be dressing someone down about this.

These soldiers are riding their mounts to the battlefield and then dismounting.

Some were reported yesterday to be leading a charge on Taliban positions on horseback. I call that a Calvary charge.

#20, you heard the same thing I did, SF in light uniforms

I'm hoping some kindly old SGM puts a size 12 up somebody's ass for that, and puts a end to it. They might as well be wearing flashing yellow "Yoo,HOO! American over HERE!Shoot me!" lights on their heads. What the HELL are their commanders thinking?

I hope some of you guys who have been making fun of people like me and calling us stuff like "old farts" take notice of this! Trust me,if *I* were over there taking part in insertions, these guys would NOT be wearing unique clothing! They would be dressed just like the NA soldiers.

Stuff like this is why they need me. If any of you have any influence with the Pentagram,I can probably still be persuaded to go. If they ask nicely, and make me a SGM. That's not too much to ask,is it?

Cavalry. Horse's head above a chevron and I didn't see what was below the chevron. Prolly a rifle or a sabre.

Well let me tell you 'bout A-hab the A-rab,
sheik of the burning sand,
He had emeralds and rubies drippin' off-a him
and a ring for every finger of his hand.
He had a big old turban wrapped around his head
and a scimitar by his side,
And every evenin' about midnight
He'd jump on his camel named Clyde.......
And ride.......!
Out across the sands
to the tent of the beautiful Fatima......

Ahab? You mean Lieutenant Ahab?!!!

IT turns out that the SF, up until fairly recently (it probably got killed under Clinton) maintained a "muleskinner" training program, that is how to handle mules for pack transport.

That's the kinda thing done once you get out of training Group, and into a regular group and on a team. It's "team training". SFTG if more of a "pre-school" that just teaches the basics and tries to establish who is worth keeping. The REAL training begins once you get on a team. It never ends.

I'll bet special services have some former "farmers" in their midst.

Uhhh,Auntie,"Special Services" are the guys who hand out the basketballs and the badmiton nets. It's "Special FORCES" who are riding around on horseback, making friends and killing people.
