BUMP! This thread is great!

I'd be interested if anyone else has a "flooring-it-in-reverse-gone-awry" story like mine

No, but I do have a "Going the wrong way down a one-way street in Downtown Los Angeles in the middle of the afternoon" story.

I have a "going-the-wrong-way-on-a four-lane-divided-highway- at-night-in-a-dense-fog-on-Long-Island" story, but I wasn't in the wrong lane, the car coming straight for me was.

Actually I think we are all looking at this incorrectly! Does anyone have any idea how "hard" it must have been to get her SUV on top of that little guard rail? I mean, geez, she should be rewarded for this, rather than ridiculed..... of course you may have also noticed this woman is a b-l-o-n-d-e.....!

(The driver is stupid, not the cell phone! lol)

The Vladinator goes to about one home game in two or three. Very heartening to hear the JLA cheers when Bud Lynch points him out in a luxury box. He's doing quite well for what his condition was. Sergei Mnatsakanov (sp) was also gravely injured in the wreck. I haven't heard anything lately about him.

The story that using cellular phones near gas pumps can trigger explosions is an urban myth.

I do not know of any fires or explosions caused by cellular phones in gas stations. However, the cellular phone is a two-way radio which can and does have electric current flowing through it. Gasoline vapors are flammable and a spark will ignite them. Sparks can be generated by loose contacts within the phone or by a voltage maximum along the antenna.

As an aside, my ex-girlfriend and I once had an argument about her (practiced!) belief that her smoking in a gas station was OK.

It's hard to conclusively reconstruct the incident on the basis of the available evidence, but I suggest it involved some combination of a Tall Latte, a radio station with the "smooth jazz" format, and a nine-year-old child named Justin, Meredith or Caitlin.

As an hobbyist 4x4'er, I must say that's pretty decent articulation from a stock Toyota 4-Runner.

Why didn't she just put that thing in 4WD and drive down off that barrier? It's not as if she needs a winch.

Other than the dent on the right rear fender, there's no damage.
