I think it felt turbulence when the tail fell off in sections. The first buffeting was the left side seperation (or lower) and the second was the right side separation. The turbulence didn't cause the seperation, rather the separation caused the turbulence.

...just heard a 'follow-up' on the FNC. They mentioned that the Data Recorder revealed that the plane had 'rolled onto it's
Left Side' on the way down....
What is more likely....
1) The Port Side Engine seperating....
..or..
2) The Port Side Wing seperating.......as was reported by many eyes on the skies....
.......just curious.....

I ain't goin' along with the "it fell apart because it hit wind" story...BOTH engines come off and land in different locations. The vertical fin separates cleanly from the aircraft. I ain't buyin the wake turbulence explanation as the sole cause of this crash either!

Actually Debka.com has proven to be a highly accurate source Now is this the Debka of the "15,000 Chinese fighting alongside the Taliban in Afghanistan" claim? To call Debka a "highly accurate source" of information is stretching all bounds of credibility. You might want to reconsider that.

The "smoke" could have been one of the following or both. When the tail broke, atomized high pressure hot hydraulic fluid spewing out of open lines. Also the plane was supposedly dumping fuel at the time. Either event looks like smoke and sometimes can only be verified by another plane up close.

It shouldn't be necessary to remind the tinfoil hat conspiracy theorists that this country is at war and that popping off publicly with sinister suspicions that incite suspicion, fear and hatred of our government gives aid and comfort to our enemies. But it is, not that it will stop them though.

Witnesses said they heard a popping sound, and there was a fire at the base of the wing. That would explain the smoke trail as the plane was diving.
I doubt if the tail falling off would cause a fire in the armpit of the wing.

Also the plane was supposedly dumping fuel at the time. during the "Pataki theory" thread, it was discovered that Airbus 300-600 was incapable of a fuel dump. The fuel "somehow" managed to get into the water some other way.

It's my understanding that the A300 series of aircraft were built in Europe rather than the U.S. by Boeing, etc... Any info on that?

"Witnesses said they heard a popping sound, and there was a fire at the base of the wing. That would explain the smoke trail as the plane was diving." The "popping" sound could be the compressor on one of the engines stalling. In a spiral, the engine inside the spiral will tend to stall out.
This will also cause a flame and smoke to issue from the back of the engine, as the fuel just burns like it was inside a barrel.

Actually Debka.com has proven to be a highly accurate source of very valuable information for the last year.I hope this is a joke, because it's really funny.

This plane(A300) was built in France.

I think this particular aircraft was built in 1988..I wouldn't think that at only 13 years old it would literally fall apart in the sky. But I do wonder of integrity in the building of the craft.

What about the A320 that Northwest Airlines has switched me to next month??? Any details on those??

When the Captain tried to make the drastic maneuvers necessary to regain a semblance of control,
the French computer overrode him.
Sorry...can't...resist...
Last words on the flight voice recorder:<TINNYCOMPUTERVOICEWITHFRENCHACCENT>
Silly American pig-dogs! Go and boil your bottoms, son of a silly person!
Ah blow my nose at you! Ah fart in your general direction!
Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries!
</TINNYCOMPUTERVOICEWITHFRENCHACCENT>
(Cows, other livestock, and a large wooden rabbit were also seen falling from the plane as it went down.)

Here are some excellent pictures of the tail, the stab, etc.

Thanks for the info that the cwazy overriding computer wasn't installed when this Airbus was built. My friend doesn't fly this plane so he may well have slipped up on that detail. I'll check back with him when he comes back from his current trip.
