1946, it was still British. Therefore the Jews were terrorists, killing innocent civillians, even if they did give a warning. It was not Israel for another two years. Or would you call them Freedom Fighters?. In my opinion, the British took the easy way out after a long painful war and should have never gave up the land.

No I disagree.

Semantics perhaps, but targeting and intent is important. 1946, it was still British. Therefore the Jews were terrorists, killing innocent civilians, even if they did give a warning. It was not Israel for another two years. Or would you call them Freedom Fighters?.

Largely killing British military. I will agree, the warning doesn't matter, other than evidence of the military intent.

Let's play fill in the blanks. 1775, it was still British. Therefore the ..... were terrorists, killing innocent civilians, even if they did give a warning. It was not America for another seven years. Or would you call them Freedom Fighters?.

No, Patriots.

In my opinion, the British took the easy way out after a long painful war and should have never gave up the land.

Should never give up the land? You must be joking. IMHO the Brits didn't want the land, the responsibility of administering it, didn't want the Arabs, and didn't want the Jews, especially Jewish refugees hanging around in Europe. So they dumped it.

Get your facts straight. It was not a "hotel" at the time, it was the command HQ for the British military, who I might add were bombing the Jews and aiding the Arabs against the nascent Israeli state. And they didn't seek to kill people. In fact, they not only called in advance and told them to get out, they also called the French Embassy next door and told them to open their windows so that glass would not be blown inside embassy.

The hotel was clearly a military target, and the attack was intended to destroy morale and infrastructure, not people. It was a military target, against a nation that had renegged on their agreement to pull out of the territory and had armed their enemies and physucally attacked Jewish towns.

Therefore the Jews were terrorists, killing innocent civillians,

This statement evinces you ignorance. By collectivizing "Jews". The Irgun and Stern were small dissenting organizations. For example, the Haganah which was the recognized Yishuv (the Jewish leadership) defence force, had 17,000 men and 4,000 women in 1937. In comparison the Irgun had 1,800 men. Moreover, members of both the Irgun and Stern were arrested from time to time by the Yishuv. Again, the Yishuv was the "government" and official entity of the Jews in the British Mandate before the State of Israel was declared in May of 1948. And again, both the Irgun and Stern were formed for many reasons as entities fundamentally as retaliatory groups to the Arabs who had been rioting and murdering Jews for years. Eventually they began to attack British targets because the British had betrayed the National Home by lying concerning Arab displacement. The British had therefore in the 1939 White Paper severely restricted Jewish immigration and would have given that entirely into the hands of the Arabs five years from the White Paper's pronouncement. Moroever, the British enacted discriminatory land purchasing laws against the Jews which the Anglo-American committee (1945-6) had itself noted as discriminatory. Hence the British were in the process of turning on the National Home and selling out the Jews because of the Arabs, oil, and other strategic reasons. They even turned some of their guns against the Jews in Israel's war of independence and also staffing the Arab Legion with some British officers.
