Isn't amazing what can happen and how fast it happens when a president simply states the mission and then let's the professionals take over until the mission is complete. No politics, no thought about what others might think; just accomplish the mission and report back when it is completed.

The ultimate source of this news is Hurriet, which is a reasonably reliable Turkish newspaper.
Has Rumsfield visited Turkey recently?
I believe he has but I am not certain.
However, I remain somewhat sceptical,
since there has been such a strong US disinformation campaign
intended to keep eyes off Iraq,
why would Rumsfield be blabbing about it to the Turks?
Perhaps he put out some feelers.
Such a plan undoubtedly exists, but whether it will be implemented still is highly uncertain.

This is just a general interest question for my own information, so if anyone can help, I would appreciate it.
Why didn`t we take out Saddam back in `91 when we on his back doorstep?

Problem ain't nothin' some napalm runs, heavy bombing followed by search and destroy missions can't solve.

It surely could not be entitled the Powell Plan.
Here's hoping James Woolsey returns to head the CIA if this is, in fact, the next phase.

I am so glad about this. For me I have such tremendous confidence in Bush , Cheney and Rumsfeld. When the atack happened FallGuy said he was hoping Bush would go after Saddam too and I agreed.
I remember how Saddam would not let us in to check out what he had and we were supposed to be allowed . He fought every step , every move that was tired .
Thanks John so much for this.

Rumsfeld seems to now what the hell he is doing. Let's just sit back and watch the pros at work.

Hey John! I have a thought...
Wouldn't it be kinda nice if the Rangers could kinda herd Osama down Iraq's way?
Perfect excuse for a twofer.

The Rumsfeld/Myers Pentagon has been very good about keeping strategic and tactical planning secret. If Bill Gertz' name wasn't attached to the sourcing, I would disregard it out of hand. Be that as it may, after the example of Afghanistan, Iraq (and maybe others) are ripe for toppling. The anti-terror forces will be tremendously energized. The paper tiger regimes will have little confidence in their traditional tools of repression and control. Finally, the role played by Turkey in the anti-terror war certainly merits special consideration to their economic and security concerns. Keep on rollin!
